Cherish Me (Rough Edges 3) - Page 49

Things are going to get more complicated after tonight since we will be living together, but this is a good test to see if we can stand each other after the honeymoon phase ends. Of course, the first couple of months is always all sex and perfection, but after is when you get to see if the relationship can survive. With all the time we spent together prior to her leaving, I think we can handle it, but also know that we have both changed. Things are different when you are living together, which is why I've always been an advocate for moving in together before you get married. Sure, in some countries you don't even have sex before you are married, but to me, that means you are marrying someone you don't know if you are sexually compatible with, or how their personal hygiene is. These are big things you need to know before getting married to someone.

I know I've talked before about never wanting to be married, but Hazel is the exception. Of course, I already proposed to her once and she turned me down, so I need to be damn sure she is going to say yes next time. Or maybe, she doesn't ever want to be married again? As long as I get to be with her, marriage doesn't matter to me.

"Are you asleep already?" Hazel says, turning on the light.

I cover my eyes with my hands. "Well, I was about to be. That's bright."

The light turns off and then the bed squeaks, and she lays down next to me, her palm landing on my chest. "Do you mind if I join you?"

It's kind of a stupid question since she is already pressed against me, her warmth only makes me eyes want to close.

"Goodnight, Aiden."

I turn to kiss her, and whisper. "Goodnight, love."
