Lost Cause (Killer of Kings 8) - Page 26

“Fucking take it, slut, I’m nearly done.”

Priest slowly closed the door. He already had his weapon in hand, and he advanced toward the man. He was so intent on rutting in her ass, he didn’t even know he was at Priest’s mercy.

“Where is she?” Priest asked, pointing the gun at Harb’s head, pressing the barrel hard against his scalp to punctuate the warning. It would be so easy to kill him. First, he needed to know where Cleo was. After that, nothing else mattered.

“Are you fucking kidding me? Right now? I’m fucking her. You can have her after I’m done.” Harb showed no sign of caring that a gun was pointed directly at his head.

“I’m not talking about her,” Priest snapped. Locked and loaded, he was ready to end this sorry excuse for a human being.

Harb sighed. He still had the woman locked in place.

Priest didn’t avert his gaze, but she tried to wriggle, to get Harb to start back up again.

“If it’s not her you want, then who?” Harb asked.

“You’ve taken out a hit,” Priest said, giving a brief description of what Cleo looked like.

“Look, I’m in the process of joining the fucking Killer of Kings.”

This had Priest stepping back. His gun was still raised, ready to kill. “What the fuck?”

“Yeah, I know, big shock, huh? I don’t work for the mafia anymore. I don’t work for anyone. I don’t even know how it came about. I think I lost in a bet, but either way, I’m on Boss’s books right now. I haven’t taken any woman.”

“Boss wouldn’t want a rapist on his books.”

“Fuck you, man. I’m not a rapist. This bitch asked me to fuck her like this.” Harb shook his head and let the woman go, shoving her away.

“Seriously, I don’t know who you are, but leave,” the woman said, glaring at Priest.

Had Priest walked into some kind of alternate universe. “You … he?”

“He’s doing what I want for a change. Piss off.” She got to her feet and started to push him out of the room.

He was about to charge forward, but all of a sudden, strong arms grabbed him from behind, hauling him out of the room. A hood was thrown over his head, and even as Priest fought, he couldn’t get them to stop moving, and he was dragged.

They didn’t leave the brothel, he knew that much, but he was thrust into a chair, chains were wrapped around him, and then, the hood was taken off, where he came face to face with Boss.

Holy shit. He looked mad.

Priest was silent as Boss glared at him.

Boss snapped his fingers. “Leave us.”

Priest saw he’d been taken by several of the Killer of Kings men. It made sense. Not many men had the ability to take him down.

“You know, Priest, I don’t like being lied to. What I hate more than being lied to are loose ends.”

“I have no loose ends.”

“No?” Boss stepped out of the way, and Priest came face to face with Cleo. Her eyes were closed, and she was slumped in the chair as if she’d been knocked out.

Her face had no signs of abuse, but he didn’t like it one bit.

He shook his chains, his muscles rigid. “You took her?” Priest glared at Boss.

“Yeah, I did, and it was for your own good.”

Priest strained against the chains, but they were fucking tight. He wasn’t getting out of his situation until Boss let him.
