Don't Give A Damn About My Plaid Reputation (Bad in Plaid 4) - Page 1

Chapter 1

This kiss, like the one before, and the one before that, tasted of perfection.

Their lips—their very souls—melded in a melody unlike any she’d ever experienced, the notes plucking at her heart…and lower. She squirmed against his hardness, feeling like a taut lute string waiting to be strummed by a master.

Robena Oliphant had known the moment she’d set eyes on him that Kester MacBain was the man—the warrior, the fallen angel!—for her. Although he’d tried to be honorable, she’d finally worn him down.

And now…!

When his teeth caught her lower lip and tugged slightly, she didn’t bother to swallow down the moan that rolled from her chest. In fact, she leaned closer, rubbing that chest against his.

St. Kelsi bless her, but Kester could kiss.

Because he was so much taller than her, she had to content herself with wrapping her arms around his waist, locking her fingers together behind him as if she could lock him similarly in place.

She didn’t want him going anywhere.

Not now, not ever.

He’d already taught her what to do with her tongue, and Robena showed that she’d been an eager student, wrenching a groan from him as he pushed forward. Her back rubbed against the stone of the corridor wall, his palms on either side of her head.

She was trapped—exactly where she wanted to be.

Stuck between a wall and—if that persistent stiffness poking into her navel was any indication—a hard place.

Her lips curled upward against his.

With a muttered curse, he dragged his lips away from hers and she beamed up at him as he straightened.

“Thank ye, sir, may I have another?” ‘Twas what she’d said not ten minutes ago, which had led to him pushing her up against the wall in this hidden corridor and kissing her.

Mayhap ‘twould work again.

But….

“Robena, damnation.”

Instead of lowering his lips to hers once more, he blew out a breath and she was a little alarmed to realize it sounded frustrated.

She tightened her hold on his waist. “Come along, Kester. My sister’s wedding celebration isnae for hours yet, and ‘tis far too busy out there in the great hall. Are ye no’ glad I offered to give ye a tour of the secret passages?”

The way his lips curled upward seemed almost reluctant. And he sighed again.

“Aye, I confess I’ve been curious about them since we arrived.” He lifted one palm from the wall to scrub across his face, so his next words were muffled. “Even if I could guess what would happen if I let ye drag me off alone.”

She grinned unrepentantly, thinking of their careful dance in the last weeks. “‘Twas no’ so bad, was it?” Her hips flexed against his, silently reminding him of the pleasure he’d just shown her.

Kissing Kester MacBain had been just as wonderful as she’d known it would be.

But he shook his head. And when he flattened his palm against the wall by her face, he seemed…dejected.

“Lass, I cannae deny kissing ye was….”

When he trailed off, she tried to tamp down the growing alarm with flippancy. “Bliss? Pleasure beyond yer wildest imaginings?”

His lips curled ruefully. “Aye—well, och, nay. I have some fairly wild imaginings.”

Oh good, here was the charmer she’d fallen in love with. “I cannae wait to hear all about them.”
