The Alpha Wolf's Enemy (Wolves of Anchorage 2) - Page 46

Roman was en route. He had to be. And the other shifters were on their way too, but she had to do something sooner. If she didn't, they could kill Derek before the others got there.

Then Victor’s phone buzzed. He’d been talking to Ian, and then he stopped. He didn’t even glance at Derek. "Why did I just get word that the high-ranking male shifters had left the pack grounds?” His eyes bored into Kyra. "Did you check her phone?” he asked Ian.

Fuck. They were going to discover that she’d sent Roman their location.

If Ian had had blood in his body, it would have drained from his face. He froze, and his eyes went wide.

If she were going to die, at least she would have redeemed herself just a tiny bit by getting in contact with Roman.

She held up her phone and smirked. “Know what you were saying earlier about my intelligence?”

Victor turned his gaze toward Ian and that's when she moved. She ran fast, leaping into her wolf form in the air. She clamped her jaws around the female's neck, the one who’d been torturing Derek.

It wasn't enough to kill her, or even disable her, but it was enough to give Derek the opportunity to break free. He was up in a flash, grabbing a potion from his back pocket and smashing it in her face. Then he turned toward Ian and Victor, ready to fight. But Ian had already turned and run away.

Victor yelled his name, but it was too late. He was gone in a blurry flash.

It gave her just enough time to grab her dress and pull it back over her head.

Derek grabbed her and pushed her behind him.

He couldn't help it. She did not want him to kill Victor. Maybe he had used her, but he had also saved her. He was the only guardian she'd had for so many years. But she wasn’t going to stand in Derek’s way. He would want revenge, just as she had.

“I can feel your pack. They’re coming,” she said. “They’ll be here soon.”

He reached back and squeezed her arm. “Thank you for calling them.”

She squeezed his hand back. That might be the last time she ever spoke to him. She couldn’t imagine they would let her live much longer, not after what she’d done.
