The Alpha Wolf's Sacrifice (Wolves of Anchorage 1) - Page 70

She switched to her human form and pulled on one of the thin cotton wraps the pack kept stashed all over their land.

"Hey, Eliza," Everleigh said. "We have something to tell you."

Eliza jumped up, changing back into a little girl. "Are we having cake, Mommy?"

Her child always wanted cake. "We can have cake later, but this is even better than cake."

Roman had transformed too and he’d found a pair of shorts. He was standing over them, beaming down at them.

"Better than cake? Is that possible?" Roman asked. He pulled Everleigh to her feet and lifted Eliza into his arms so they were all eye-level.

"Do you remember how you wanted a little brother or sister?" Everleigh asked.

"Yes," Eliza said. "Am I getting one?" Her eyes shimmered in the moonlight.

"Yes. You're getting a little brother or sister."

She squealed at the top of her lungs and then clapped her little hands together. "Mommy, I’m so excited!"

"I know. I couldn't wait to tell you."

"When will we get him?"

"We don't know if it's going to be a boy or a girl, but it'll still be a few months away."

"This is the best day ever, Mommy and Daddy," Eliza said.

Everleigh felt tears pool in her eyes. "I agree with you," she said, trying not to sniffle.

Roman’s strong arms came around them both. "My girls," he said. He kissed Everleigh on the cheek. "My mate." He lifted Eliza even higher in his arms. "And my daughter." He put one hand on Everleigh’s stomach. "And our new pup. This is the best day of my life too."
