The Alpha Wolf's Sacrifice (Wolves of Anchorage 1) - Page 58

"Oh!" she said. She sat up, taking her head off his chest.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Don't resign as Alpha. Okay?"

"Okay, but why?" He ran his hand through her hair. "I want to live near you guys. You saw the house."

"I know that you went to the trouble to rent a house, and I hope that you don't lose any money on a deposit. But I want to move back to Anchorage."

"You want to do what?" He rubbed his ears. "Did I hear that correctly? Say that again."

She gave him a small smile. "I don't want you to give up being Alpha. It's too much. And I don't want you to give up being part of the pack."

"But you hate living in a pack."

"I'm not sure I hate living in a pack so much as I don't want to be part of an oppressive, old-fashioned pack."

Just then, Eliza sat up. "Mommy, can we have room service again? For breakfast?"

She leaned over her daughter and kissed her on the forehead. "Absolutely."

"Can I get chicken again? Can I get french fries?"

"Yes. You can get all of that again."

Everleigh lay back down and snuggled into Roman’s side while he started ordering their next round of room service. For once, she thought maybe they had a chance.
