The Emperor (The Tarot Club 2) - Page 44

His arm snaked around me as I leant back into him, and it felt like the most natural position in the world, as I flashed the phone a quiet smile, ensuring that my ring was visible as my hand rested atop Dimitri’s arm.

Stepen smiled giddily as he handed the phone back, bidding us a quick goodbye before letting himself out.

I threw my head back against his chest, gazing up at him, a frown marring his face as he glared down at his phone - at the photo.

“Not a good photo?” I asked carefully. If seeing us together was a trigger for him, we were doomed from the start.

“Just send your mother a picture of the ring. That should keep her sated for a while.”

It was my turn to frown as I snaked my hand towards his, snatching the phone from his grip. I knew he let me take his phone, and that action alone eased my trepidation slightly.

As the picture glared back at me, I had to stifle my gasp when I realized how good we looked together - how right we seemed as Dimitri’s arm wrapped around my body, my ring glinted beneath the overhead lights.

I scanned the picture, trying to see exactly why Dimitri didn’t want to send it to my mother. There - my nipples, under this lighting, were visible through my shirt. My mother would be fuming if I sent her this, and even though Dimitri looked good - even though his dimples had made an appearance, I made a move to delete the image from his phone.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Dimitri growled against my ear as he snatched his phone back.

“Deleting it.” I uttered in a state of confusion. “We can’t send that picture to anyone - no matter how good you look.”

“I’m still keeping it.” His voice was low as he nipped my ear, laving the side of my neck with his tongue.
