The Empress (The Tarot Club 1) - Page 70

“I’m a passionate guy,'' Ravi shrugged his shoulders.

Stepen snorted in response and Dimitri remained silent.

Glancing across at me, Ravi smirked, “Relax Corinne, you’re one of us now, so any benefits that Stepen would get through simple association will be available to you too.”

He winked, enjoying the shock that reverberated through me.

“What makes you think I’m one of you?” I spluttered.

“The moment you didn’t flee after we disposed of Olek, you became one of us - Vedam or not,” he tipped his head in my direction knowingly.

Dimitri sat just behind him, the tick of his jaw in view.

I needed wine - or something - to get me through this conversation. Ravi was pushing me, but the more we spoke, the bolder his gaze grew.

“I need a refill,” I jumped up suddenly, wiping my sweaty palms against my denim shorts, and without waiting for any sort of reply, I marched out of the room - fled would’ve been a more accurate term.

I had taken two steps into the kitchen, my heart hammering in my chest before a dark-haired figure with an all masculine body, slammed me into the tiled wall. My breath wooshed out of my chest as I struggled to comprehend what the fuck just happened.

Dimitri’s green eyes glared down at me, the heat from his gaze unfurled itself in my core and I wondered how I had ever blushed beneath Ravi’s gaze when a casual glance from Dimitri had me imagining so many different, intimate scenarios.

His nose grazed my earlobe and I swallowed down my moan - a moan that I wasn’t certain I had done a good job of hiding, because the sigh of pleasure that escaped was equally telling. His scent was all around me, pressing and demanding.

“Stop fucking flirting with Ravi,” he growled.

I blinked, opening my eyes, coming back to the moment. Dimitri’s fingers curled around my waist, toying with the band of my jeans.

“I wasn’t -”

He gripped the back of my thighs, pinning me against the wall, the movement cut off the protest that had been tumbling from my lips. Out of instinct, I wrapped my legs around his waist, the solidness of Dimitri seemed to meld into me. He was so much larger than I was, and the stretch between my legs felt delicious as the coarse thread of his jeans rubbed against my inner thigh.

I could taste his breath as he leant forward and growled, “Any discussion that entails sex with Ravi is flirting.”

He pressed himself closer and it was all I could do not to simply open up to him more - not to simply give into him. My senses were heightened within his proximity, my pulse thrummed in my ears. I turned my head in defiance - feeling too much. Too overwhelmed. Desperately needing to not be under his refined scrutiny. Because this - this was dangerous.

Dimitri brought his lips to my neck that I had unwittingly opened up for him, sucking against my pulse. I felt my eyelids shutter closed as the most delicious sensations coursed through my body. My hands found their way to his shoulders and I dug my fingers into his shirt, needing him closer. Needing more.

He responded by angling his head to kiss my neck more thoroughly. I moaned, and I knew I should be embarrassed, but with his hands upon me there was little room to think of anything else.

It was he who pulled away first, licking his way up to my ear until he growled, “No more flirting.”

And just as quickly as he had pinned me to the wall, he released me, disappearing back into the lounge.

I stood alone and confused in the kitchen.

I didn’t just imagine that - right?

Dazed, I glared around the area trying to remember what I had come into this room for. Wine. I had been looking for wine.
