Hook (A Hitman's Bait 2) - Page 45

“What’s with you and discriminating against people for their unusual names? First Tack, now Rabbit.”

“Come on, be honest. Sully, would you want to yell ‘rabbit’ when you’re fucking someone? That’d be a boner killer. Right?”

Sully laughed but didn’t respond.

“Or maybe you just lack imagination.”

I squealed. Tack was here. He quirked an eyebrow at Liam as if waiting for a reaction. He looked great in a pair of tight black pants and a transparent black shirt that showed hints of the tattoos on his torso.

“Let me guess.” Liam leaned back in the booth. “You must be the needy-for-eight-inches-to-make-him-happy friend of Kit’s.”

“Eight’s just the tip, sweetheart. No shame in being a size queen.”

I was practically bouncing in my seat. How could they not feel it? The energy between Liam and Tack crackled. Maybe it was the animosity that fed into the sexual tension, but I was certain of it. They would cause explosions in bed, and I was here for it.

If they could just stop hating each other first.

“Tack!” I jumped to my feet and hugged him tight. “I’m so glad you could make it.”

“Well, when you said you were coming to celebrate finally getting your driver’s license, I had to drop all my plans.”

My face burned. “They know.”

“What?”

“We know about the fake driver’s license and that you took him to the place to get it done,” Liam said. He had eyes only for Tack. “I hope that’s not the same place you got your fake ID to be allowed into this club.”

Tack beamed at him. “Gosh, thanks for the compliment. I’m actually twenty-four.”

“And a forensic science major,” I added. “So be nice to him, Liam, or he can make you disappear.”

A gleam of interest flashed in Liam’s eyes. “You study forensic science?”

“As a matter of fact, I do.”

“So asking random men their dick size is just a hobby, then?”

If only I’d never gone ahead that day and called him to ask about that.

“God, Liam, when are you going to let it go?”

“When he admits how shallow his requirement is.”

Tack ran his fingers through his hair. “Okay, here it goes. It’s shallow of me to think of guys in terms of their size. Does that make you happy now?”

“I need something stronger if I’m going to sit through this.” Liam got up, brushed past Tack, and stalked off.

“Tack, you shouldn’t tease him like that, you know.” I patted the seat next to me. “He actually thinks you’re serious.”

“He started it by insulting my name.”

Sully groaned. “Why am I the only grown-up at this table?”

“Because I need looking after.” I shot him a smile and took a long drink from my glass. I handed Tack Liam’s. “Here you go.”

Liam didn’t return to our table. Tack and I chatted while Sully was comfortable nursing the one glass he was allowing himself, since he was our designated driver. Although he said nothing, I was aware of him constantly. His arm at the back of the booth, fingers tracing circles on my nape, a kiss on my cheek and neck, but he never tried to get my attention away from Tack.

“Do you want to dance?” Tack asked me.
