Hook (A Hitman's Bait 2) - Page 22

“What’s with you and my housekeeper?” he asked.

“Do you see the bed? She made it after I already did.”

“She’s just used to taking care of me, that’s all.”

“But I’m here now. Can’t I take care of you in the bedroom? It’s weird having her handle the sheets where you’ve fucked me.”

He pressed his lips to the back of my neck. “She’s just doing her job.”

“She can do her job in the rest of the house. Can’t this room be ours only? I’ll take care of it and you.” I turned, took his arms, and placed them around me.

“If we’re going by that logic, then Maggie would have to stay out of most of the rooms. I mean, just last week didn’t I have you on the kitchen counter? Then there was the washing machine. Do you know I’ve never been to the washroom until that day?”

I rolled my eyes at him. I’d been sorting out my laundry when he’d come in and distracted me.

“You’re used to someone doing everything for you. I’m not. And those rooms are different. No one knows we do it in the other places too, but she knows for sure this is the bed where you lay some good pipe, mister.”

Sully scratched his head. “Well, I wouldn’t say she doesn’t know about the other places.”

“Eh? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“She walked in on us once.”

“No, she didn’t.”

“She did.”

“Where the hell was I?”

Sully chuckled. “Riding my dick on the patio by the poolside. You had your eyes closed, and she left before you noticed.”

My mouth fell open. “But you didn’t stop me.”

“Why would I? She’d already seen it, and I’d been too close to coming.” He brushed my hot cheek. “Are you blushing? Kit, you’re not the least bit prudish.”

“I’m not!”

“So what’s this?”

I sighed. “I’m just not used to anyone handling day-to-day stuff for me. And the fact that she reminds me of a mother and makes me feel like a ten-year-old sneaking off to eat too many candies.”

“Do you want me to talk to her?”

I clutched his wrist. “No way. I want to win her over. Right now, I think she believes I’m not good enough for you, so she’s being exceptionally difficult, but you know me. I’m always up for a challenge.”

“Or I could talk to her.”

“Nope. I want to do this.” I released him and walked over to the mirror to check if my hairstyle could be salvaged. I finger-combed a few locks back into place. “Unless you’ve changed your mind about taking me to the cat café, I’m ready to go.”

“After you got all kittified for me? I’m ready when you are.”

I scrunched up my nose. “Kittified? Now that’s a word that belongs in the Word of the Day app. Which reminds me, today’s word is dauntless.”

“Which means?”

“To be fearless and bold.”

“Good kitty.”

I purred at him, and his smile dropped.

“If you make that sound again, Maggie’s going to have to make this bed for the second time in one day.”

I laughed as I stepped away from him. “Let me put my shoes on. Then we can go. We can play later if you want.”

“Don’t I always want to?”

He did. Some days I even wondered if he enjoyed kitty play more than I did, but I wasn’t complaining about it. Either way, it was a total win-win.
