Lure (A Hitman's Bait 1) - Page 91

TWENTY-THREE

“Areyousureyou want to go ahead with this?” I asked Sully as we stood outside the restaurant where we’d just had a light dinner. I had eaten little because my stomach was tight with anticipation.

“Yes, you?”

I liked that he was concerned about what I was about to do. Maybe that was the reason I was falling for him. No other man had seemed to care what I did with my body as long as I slept with them. He hadn’t even pressed me on the fact that I would sleep with other guys if he wanted but I didn’t want him to do the same. He might not have truly understood how important that was to me. I’d sold my ass to anyone who had the money to pay my high price, but now it felt like the most natural thing to sleep with someone because it turned him on.

With him, it was different. I wanted him to be all mine, and that had no bearing at all on my body and the little value I placed on it. In some way, I hadn’t been in control over my body for so long that it only seemed natural to have Sully decide who I slept with. But I trusted him. More than I did anyone else in my life.

“This is exciting.”

He lowered his head and kissed me. I slipped a hand under his shirt and stroked his abs. I was already so horny for him, but we’d agreed earlier that we would wait.

“No pressure,” he said. “If no one’s interested, I take you back to the guest house and rock your world just the same.”

I removed my hand from his shirt and winked at him. “I’m rather enjoying being used as bait again. I missed this.”

He hung back and let me enter first. I headed straight for the bar, the flirtatious smile I wore not aimed at anyone in particular. I claimed an empty stool. The bartender, a Black guy with his curly hair in a short afro, stopped in front of me.

“What can I get you?” He flashed pearly white teeth at me.

“A mojito.”

“One mojito coming up.”

Sully took the empty seat to my left. I’d deliberately chosen this stool because of the two empty seats on the right and left. He didn’t say anything to me and acted like a complete stranger. Why did I find that so hot?

“Here you go.” The bartender put the drink in front of me. “I’m Denver. If you need anything, let me know.”

“Thanks, Denver.”

I flashed him my dimpled smile, and for a second, he seemed to forget where he was as he stared at me.

“Do I get to give my order too?” Sully asked.

“Sorry. What would you like?”

I smiled into my drink, pretending as if I wasn’t listening to the sexy rumble of Sully’s voice as he placed the order.

“You’re not supposed to be having an alcoholic drink,” he said quietly as the bartender left.

“I wasn’t?” I said into my drink in case anyone was watching. “Too late.”

“Remember this conversation when I spank you later.”

“Is this seat taken?”

I turned to the man who stood at the empty stool to my right. He was a good-looking guy, dressed in a pair of jeans and a button-down shirt. His glasses gave him a gentle vibe. He didn’t scream alpha, which was just as well. Sully hadn’t mentioned the kind of man he was looking for to join us tonight, but I couldn’t see him accepting another dominant male to share in our intimacy, even if that man wasn’t allowed to touch.

“It’s free.” I smiled and held out my recently manicured hand toward him. He took it as he sat. “I’m Kit.”

“Lance.” He released my hand. “Can I admit I’ve been watching you since you walked in? I was working up the courage to approach you.”

Sully had to be hearing everything we were saying. How exciting for him to watch me flirt with another man!

“Oh, I don’t bite.” I laughed softly, placing my hand on his atop the bar. “Unless you want me to.”

He swallowed. “I’d ask to buy you a drink, but it seems you don’t need one.”
