“Olive...”
“It’s been here all along. Waiting for you.” She looked up at him, and she smiled. “It was waiting for you to find your way home.”
He took her in his arms, his voice low and fierce. “Yes, that may be true. But first... Olive first, I had to find you.”
“I was there the whole time.”
He kissed her then, deep and hard. “Yes, you were. You were.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
There must be, Olive thought, a German word for that unbearable feeling of caring for someone so very much you thought you might break apart. And then she realized, there were no words for it. There was only this. Only two hearts that had long stood divided on opposite sides of the boardroom, that had become one over time, and would stay one, because of the miracle of love.
