The Final Strife - Page 228

“Did you see? Did you see?”

Sylah smiled as she entered the bed chamber.

“Yes, I saw.”

“I made it!” Anoor ran into Sylah’s arms, knocking the breath out of her. Sylah leaned into her embrace, and despite the dampness of her clothing, her scent clung to her and Sylah inhaled it deeply.

“I nearly didn’t make it.”

Sylah pushed Anoor to arm’s length.

“What happened? I saw you come back out of the water.”

Anoor’s gaze dropped to the floor. “The runes, I think I messed up, so I had to redo them.”

“You? You messed up?”

Anoor batted Sylah’s disbelief away with a smile.

“But I still won, didn’t I?”

“Yes, you did.”

“I wish we could celebrate at the winners’ banquet, but with so few competitors left, they’re holding it after every guild has completed the fifth trial. And that won’t be until the day before the combat trial.”

“Don’t worry, I got you a reward.”

“You have?”

Sylah slipped into attack mode. “Yes. More practice.”
