Admit It (Sinclair 2) - Page 61

her comfort.

“Why can’t we do both?”

Cayla shook her head with conviction. “No, Dex. Just…no.”

“I don’t think you get where I’m going with this, Cayla. I know what I like to do. You don’t. We should spend time exploring that. I’m willing to take adventures with you in and out of bed.”

Cayla blushed again. “Noted. I’ve never done any of the things on the itinerary, so it’s still a good start.”

“Okay,” he conceded, he’ll tell her about the changes he’d made later.

Chapter 30

“Selfie, Dex!” Dex rolled his eyes.

“That’s the third one today. What’s with all of the pictures?”

“Trip memories. You don’t want to take pictures with me, Dex?”

Grabbing the phone, Dex pulled Cayla’s bikini clad body against him and posed for the selfie. Her phone display showed them both smiling with the sunlight reflecting off their sunglasses. Dex changed the setting adding a three second timer. When they posed for the next selfie, he claimed her mouth, kissing her until he heard the shutter sound.

“Add that to your memories.” Passing the phone back to her he asked, “Do you plan to add to the Gram? Or tell all your followers in your Twitter-verse that you’re on a weekend getaway with Dex Sinclair?”

Dex already knew the answer, and the pursing of her lips confirmed his theory. He opted not to be offended. Baby steps, he reminded himself. It is one thing to go on dates and tell your siblings; social media was a completely different animal. Dex’s page still said “single” although it was very complicated, and now that his pages were public – thanks to Izzie’s low-level harassment – he knew posting “couple pictures” was one step too many for Cayla.

He pulled her into another kiss before she could respond. They were having a good day, and he wanted to keep up the momentum. They’d toured a beautiful vineyard and sampled their most popular wines while snacking on a cheese tray laden with select cheeses, fruit, and crackers. Although Cayla frowned while tasting most of the wine, she’d concluded that she would be willing to do it again.

Ziplining was two hours of hilarity as Cayla clamped herself to him on the sky bridges while chanting, “Don’t look down, don’t look down.” She was a pro by the time they made it to the fifth and longest zip; however, it still didn’t stop her from screaming like a crazy person as she whipped through the trees. Now, they were relaxing on the private lake for the venue with the other guests hanging out and killing time before the next event.

Cayla stripping out of her workout gear to get to the bikini underneath it was an event for him. The more relaxed they’d become, the more aroused he became. He told her as much in her ear as he held her from behind. She snapped another selfie to distract him.

“Behave, Dex. Our reservation is already paid for tonight. You don’t want me to lose money, do you?”

“Cayla, have you learned anything? I’d reimburse you.”

Cayla stretched out in the bed. Not bad for a treehouse. She was tired after a long day of events and a good shower. She looked around the treehouse again and smiled from ear to ear. Dex probably thought she was crazy because she had a total freak out when she saw the treehouse. In a good way. It was the most exciting part of the trip. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration. It was the part she was looking forward to the most outside of having Dex with her. She could tell that he didn’t get the whole treehouse thing, but he’d warmed up to the idea once he saw it.

During dinner, they’d tried shit she’d never heard of before. Cayla had frowned at the options and allowed Dex to make executive decisions. The scallops were good, although they were prepared in a way she would have never guessed. Her Black Angus ribeye was divine, but she was still partial to Dex’s recipe. He’d smiled the remainder of the dinner after she gave him her opinion.

Cayla felt a sense of pride glow in her chest. She’d managed to create a day that they’d both enjoyed. Hopefully, the next day would be equally successful. She heard Dex’s approach before she saw him. The bridge creaked and moaned under his weight. His eyes roamed around the room again before landing on her in the bed wearing nothing but a t-shirt.

“Okay, I’ll admit it. This is pretty cool,” he conceded, viewing the circular treehouse with an ancient tree running up the middle while rewarding her with his dimple.

“See! I told you it would be cool. Sometimes you have to listen to Cayla.”

“Well,” he murmured as he turned off the light and closed the door. “We should go to bed.”

His shirt and pajama bottoms hit the floor. Dex was instantly naked. The soft light glowed off the planes of his body making him look like a gift from the moon. Cayla licked her lips, her pulse picked up its pace. His lithe body settled in bed next to Cayla. His hand roamed over her leg and rested on her naked hip. Goosebumps littered the trail of his hand.

“We have to wake up early tomorrow,” he whispered before nibbling on her neck.

Cayla sighed at his sweet kisses and pulled him closer. She was seconds from getting lost in his kisses when his words wiggled into her head.

“Dex?”

“Hmm?” He continued his kisses down her neck.

“I don’t have anything scheduled early.”
