Real Alphas Bite (The Alpha-Hole Duet 1) - Page 36

I paused in front of my room, shoved it open, and nudged Syn inside. “Angel, I need you to stay here, okay.”

She stumbled inside, then whipped around to face me, her eyes wide. “River, what’s wrong with you?”

But I shut the door rapidly, locked it, then fisted the key.

“What the fuck, man?” Caspian bellowed and drove his hands into my chest. He was a large motherfucker, so I recoiled a few steps. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“She’s mine,” I snarled back, sucking in air. “So fuck off.”

“What the hell’s gotten into you?” he barked. “Have you lost your mind?”

Syn was screaming from inside my room to be let out, banging on the door.

I groaned, my upper lip peeling back, my mind trying to process his words. My head was foggy, the jealousy stinging. I just wanted to protect Syn. To share those special moments with her where nothing existed but us two. To have someone who understood what it felt like to live with Hell in your head.

“Give me the key,” Caspian demanded, a sneer on his lips. “You’re losing control.”

“Fuck off,” I growled instantaneously. Sometimes it was difficult to tell which part took over… whether it was me or my wolf.

“Move away from the door, Syn,” Caspian called out. I barely had time to move before he threw his heel into the lock. Wood splintered, the crack of the lock telling me he’d broken it. He shoved the door open with a hand.

I roared. “Asshole.” Wrong move. I shuddered, my wolf rumbling in my chest, and fury burst through me.

I hurled myself at Caspian, leading with punches.
