Real Alphas Bite (The Alpha-Hole Duet 1) - Page 5

“I need to get back to work,” I said in a surprisingly level voice considering I wanted to scream or cry. Or maybe both.

“Send over another bottle of my favorite, first thing,” he ordered.

“Of course,” I responded, making sure not to meet his eyes.

“Talk to you soon, Emersyn.” The words were a promise, and it was all I could do to hold in another shiver.

What was I going to do if he went further? What could I do?

I’d kill myself before I let him take anything else from me.

He let go of me, and I cleared my throat before slowly picking up the keg again and walking down the hallway away from him. I could feel his gaze on me the entire time.

It was weird to actually feel relieved as I made my way back into the bar, even with Devon barking at me for taking so long and leaving him to actually work.

I hustled over to the bar and started filling drink orders. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Brayden saunter over to his table from the back hallway, a beta girl immediately pouncing on him. He turned and shot me a wink before dipping her backward and making out with her messily. It was a good thing wolves couldn’t spread most diseases. That kiss could have given me a million things considering how much his mouth and every other part of him got around.

A splash of cold liquid suddenly went down the front of my dress, and I gasped in shock as I focused from Brayden to the three girls standing there in front of me, all of them wearing identical evil smiles and looking like they all visited the same plastic surgeon and had asked for the same face.

“Whoops. Another, girl.”

I gritted my teeth, and my wolf lurched up inside of me. I didn’t even know these girls' names. I’d never been welcomed into any girl groups after what my father had done, and after a while, all of the women in the pack just blurred together. They all were the same. They all treated me like I was nothing.

A spilled drink down my clothes was nothing compared to what I’d been through in this pack.

My wolf whined again as I mechanically went through the motions of pouring them another drink, my mind trying to think if there was any way out of here except for death.

But even as appealing as that was, it seemed like a slap in the face to my brother’s sacrifice to ever do something like that.

I just didn’t know how much more I could take.

Raucous laughter filled the air again, but this time, Brayden couldn’t draw my gaze. I would get through this night just like I had all the others.

By keeping my head down and dreaming about the life I would have if I ever managed to escape this place.
