The Biker's Cherry (Royal Bastards MC: Charleston, WV 8) - Page 14

Chapter Six

I don’t think I’ve slept a wink since I got home Saturday morning. I can’t believe I got away with it. Nav dropped me at the end of my street before sunrise. I crept into the house and got straight in the shower even though I hated to wash what we shared away. I’ve been floating ever since.

He hasn’t said we’re together or anything but deep in my heart I know he’s mine.

I texted with Sheena and we’re going to ditch after third period to go to the clinic so I can get on birth control. I haven’t heard from Brodix so walking into school this morning I’m nervous about what I’m going to encounter today. Will he try to apologize, or will he treat me as though I don’t exist?

Sheena says he didn’t come downstairs at all until the next morning and when she asked where I was, he said I went home with a bellyache. Lying jerk. I can’t believe he didn’t check to see if I made it home or to apologize after being such an asshole to me.

I get to my locker and Brodix is standing here waiting for me like he usually is. He moves in to put his arm around me and I dodge him.

“Don’t be mad,” he starts, and I know I should tell him to piss off, but I want to hear what excuse he’s going to give for being a big fat jerk.

“I’m not mad, B. I’m disappointed.”

“I’m sorry. I just don’t get you. One minute you’re all into me and the next you seem as though you can’t stand for me to touch you.”

He’s right. I give him mixed signals. That’s not fair of me. It isn’t an excuse for him to be a dickhead though. I suck in a breath. “I think we should break up. My head isn’t in the right space for a boyfriend right now.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“I want us to be friends.”

He rakes a hand through his blonde hair. “You’re breaking up with me?” He laughs. “I can’t believe this shit.” He pushes me against the lockers getting in my space and my face. “I made you and I can break you.” He snarls as I shrink away from him.

Everyone is staring at us including his boys.

Joseph grabs his arm in an attempt to yank him back. “Come on, bro. Walk it off.”

“Fuck off.” He jerks away and storms down the hall pausing to kick a trash can over.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper and open my locker.

I sit on the exam table freezing my ass off in a paper gown as Sheena stands in the corner playing a game on her phone giving me knowing smirks. That after this appointment it’s game on for me and Nav. I probably should have done this already but there’s no time like the present. I haven’t needed to worry about things like pregnancy and STDs. Pam mentioned my going on the pill to Mom when I turned sixteen and she broke down and went into this tangent about how I wasn’t going to be like her and screw up my life by getting pregnant as a teen. You’d think her personal experience would make her want to make sure I am protected but whatever. I’m here now.

I’m waiting for the doctor to finish doing her thing. It’s invasive and uncomfortable. She’s basically gawking at my vagina. I didn’t know what the protocol was. Like I shave my bikini line out of necessity in the summer. No one wants to see a bush hanging out of a bathing suit. Sheena has given me so much shit for asking her if I should shave before my appointment. She said, “Dude, they stare at twats all the time. I’m sure they’ve seen it all, but I’d suggest a little trimming of the hedges before you see your biker again.” Then she snorted and pop came out of her nose. She reminds me of my Aunt Pam in some ways because she’s outspoken and hilarious.

I shoot Nav a text.

Kimber:I’m at the doctor…getting on the pill today.

I see a few dots appear then stop.

“Okay. All done.” The doctor pats my knee, distracting me from worrying over why Nav stopped texting me. She goes over the different forms of birth control and which she recommends for someone my age. In the end I get the pill, but my good mood deflates when she informs me it can take a week to work. I’ve waited this long though. Seven days won’t kill me. At least, I hope.

She leaves the room and I get dressed. Outside climbing into Sheena’s car, I have a response from Nav.

Nav:Where are you?

Kimber:Leaving my appointment. My friend Sheena brought me.

Nav:You going back to school?

Kimber:I don’t have to. I have a note.

Nav:Can I come get you or will she drop you here?

I smile big at my phone.

“Your biker hottie texting you?”

I nod at Sheena. “Can you drop me off at his place in St. Albans?”

“You have gas money?” She grins.

“Duh.”

“Then yeah.”
