Keeping Grace - Page 49

I drank about a gallon of water and went to bed, hoping that would help me when I woke up in a few hours. Then I made sure to set my alarm twenty minutes earlier just in case I needed the extra time. And if not, then I would be there early.

Unlucky for me, my eyes were still swollen when I woke up and a killer headache shot pain behind my eyes every time I moved. I got up and got myself ready for the miserable day I knew was ahead of me.

I grabbed my head. The headache had been bad enough but now all I could hear was pounding. It took me a moment to realize that it wasn’t the headache, someone was knocking on the front door.

I slowly walked from the kitchen where I was making my coffee to the door, but held back from opening it or saying anything.

“Grace, I know you’re in there. Please open up and talk to me.” I could hear the hurt in Ty’s voice through the door.

A pressure in my chest built making it hard to breathe.

I grabbed hold of the couch to stop myself from running to the door, opening it and throwing myself into his arms.

I needed to do this without them. If I wasn’t sure of my future, I couldn’t make any promises to them.

I took a deep breath and locked the door so he couldn’t come in, then turned away and walked back to my bedroom.

My whole body was numb.

I thought I could stay here and train after the guys left, but I needed to get out of here.

Maybe a few hours away would give me some perspective, let me find a way to move forward.
