Keeping Grace - Page 25

GRACE

Oh shit. I was so late to training. Blake was upset with me, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I was still high from last night. It felt like Scott and Ty knew just how to work my body. I’d lost count of how many orgasms they’d given me.

“You’re late,” Blake called out.

“I know. I’m sorry. I’m here now.” I walked Storm into the arena and started my warmup. I did feel guilty for being late, but I wasn’t going to let her spoil my mood.

Surprisingly, Blake didn’t say more. She pushed me through a grueling session and then left me to cool down alone. Interesting.

As I walked back from the wash stalls, Blake caught up with me again.

“Thomas Kingston wants to come watch you next week. He said he wanted to give you a week to settle in before he saw you ride. And maybe talk to you about everything that happened with the last team.”

“Wow, really?” My hand went to settle on my chest. I wasn’t expecting one of the Kingston’s to be interested in my riding.

“Really. So, please make sure you try to be on time. I really can’t have my own sister be late to her training sessions in front of my boss.”

“Aye aye, Captain. I’ll try harder from now on.” I gave an exaggerated salute, then sobered. “I really am sorry about this morning. I lost track of time.”

“I saw you with Ty, and I hope you two had fun yesterday, but don’t let him distract you.” She rested her hand on my shoulder.

I could hear the sincerity in her voice, and I knew she was only looking out for me. It was what I asked her to do. In addition to everything else she was responsible for, she was making sure I was ready for the Olympics. There wasn’t any way she’d let anything derail my chances if she had a say in it.

“I won’t,” I reassured her.

“Maybe they can help you blow off some steam, but make sure they know that this is just fun. You need to focus on the end goal.”

“I know. I know,” I muttered.

“You say that Grace, but I also said that to myself, and look where it led me.”

“Yeah, right into your dream job, happy and loved by two amazing guys.” It was something I wanted. I wanted a family who would love me unconditionally, but Blake was right. Scott and Ty weren’t promising me forever. I knew better than to hope I could find that here.

I hugged my sister and continued to lead Storm to his stall. Even though I was tired, I didn’t stop until I washed him and fed him lunch before I headed to the bunkhouse.

“You owe me big time,” Liam said when I walked out of the barn.

My brows knitted together. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He grinned. “So, it wasn’t you I saw running through the rain with Ty Evans?”

Heat burned up my neck and onto my cheeks.

“That’s what I thought. You owe me.” He gave a satisfied smirk. “I swear, Storm is like a bloodhound. It was amusing watching you race around to get to practice,” he chuckled.

“You sent Storm to get me?” Incredible. I really loved him and hated him right now.

He smiled. “I was the one who set you up with them. I’m not going to let you guys finally getting together put your training in jeopardy.”

“That’s why I love you.” I hugged Liam to my side as he walked me to the bunkhouse.

“So, was last night worth it?” His deep voice rumbled against me.

“Do you really want to know?” I raised an eyebrow.

“I’m kind of torn right now. I want to know because I want to make sure you’re happy, and I also don’t want to know because I don’t really want a mental image of you sleeping with them.”

His face contorted, and I laughed so hard that tears clouded my vision.

“It was so worth it,” I said when I could finally breathe again. “So, what can I do to pay you back?”

“You can start by spending the rest of the day with me.”

“Umm, I was kind of hoping I would get to see Scott and Ty when they broke for lunch or when they got back.”

“They left already. They go on rotation today. Didn’t they tell you?”

“Well, we didn’t really get to do much talking last night. I guess it slipped their mind.”

Liam’s covered his ears. “I’m not hearing this.”

I pulled his hands down. “Okay, what’s on the agenda for the afternoon?”

“You are coming to town with me to meet with the new vet. We need to schedule the annual physicals for all the horses and get their testing done. The Olympics are getting closer, so we need to get everything updated and ready for when we get the call.”
