Trek - Page 7

“I was wondering if I could maybe stay here for a while until my face heals up. I don’t want my mom to see me like this,” she tells me. That’s understandable.

“The guys have no problem with you stayin’ here.”

“Okay. Thanks, Rory.”

“Trek. They call me Trek.”

“What’s wrong?” Heidi asks, and I want to tell her. Hell, I want to grab her and shake her ass to get her to understand she doesn’t have to fuck anyone here.

“You know you don’t have to do it.” Fuck, this might push her away. I don’t want to do that but damn it; she is trying my patience here.

“Do what?” I cut my eyes at her and hold hers captive.

“You know what.”

“I like sex, Trek.”

“Men have used you so much, Heidi.”

“I know that, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to have sex. It’s on my terms, not theirs!” Heidi snaps at me, and it all makes sense. I can’t stand to see her fucking anyone here. Not the prospects, not Rage. None of them.

“I get it, darlin’. I do. Everything here will be on your terms, but that doesn’t mean you go after every cock in the place.”

“Are you jealous I didn’t come to you first?”

“You’re fuckin’ high, Heidi. I’m not jealous.”

“You’re acting like it. You’re mad I fucked one of the guys here? I didn’t know it was off-limits, Dad.”

“Don’t fuckin’ do that. Don’t you dare! You ran into my clubhouse lookin’ for help.”

“Like I could forget. I know what happened, Trek.”

“Then what the hell is with you? I offer you a place to stay, and you fuck half the club in a matter of hours?” I don’t know why I’m so pissed or why I’m taking it out on her, but I am.

“As I said, I didn’t know the cock was off-limits, or I wouldn’t have done it. I just needed to breathe, Trek.” I run my hand over my face, clearly not understanding her. Maybe I’m not the one for her to talk to.

“Do what you want, sweetheart. I’m not anyone to you anymore,” I tell her before shoving to my feet. She stands next to me, grabbing my arm.

“What happened to us? We were friends,” her eyes are big and glassy.

“Were friends. We were friends,” I tell her.

“Meaning we’re not anymore?” she asks, sounding hurt by the idea. Fuck what am I doing? I’m making shit harder on her.

“Yeah. We’re friends, Heidi.” With that, I walk away and head for the bar. I need a fucking drink. I need to sleep and get my shit together.

I grab the bottle of Jack and pour a glass before taking it down. Then I pour another and another. I need to get drunk. I need to be shitfaced to deal with this bullshit. I never imagined that hours after Heidi got here, she’d be fucking members of the club. Not after what she’s been through.

“We all cope differently.” I glance over and see Cheryl, Demon’s old lady, sitting on the stool next to me.

“I get that, I do, but I didn’t expect this shit,” I tell her.

“I don’t think anyone ever does. She’s dealing with things her way.”

“I get it.”

“No, you don’t. I can see the look in your eyes. You don’t get it, and that’s okay. Heidi needs to handle things her way, Trek. She’ll come around,” she says. I nod my head, but I don’t know that. I don’t know that she’ll come around. All I know is that she’s safe here, and that’s the best thing for her right now.

“I just need to get drunk,” I tell her taking down another glass of amber. She laughs a little when Demon walks over and wraps his arms around her.

“What are you doin’?” he asks.

“Making Trek smile. I’m not doing a very good job at it, though.”

“Why is that?”

“He’s upset about his girl.”

“She isn’t my girl,” I add to the conversation taking place around me.

“You’re sure acting like it,” Cheryl retorts.

“Are you kiddin’ me? Because I don’t want her fuckin’ half the club?” I roar. Cheryl jolts a little, but Demon is there to comfort her. Fuck what am I doing? I’m losing it.

“You think you can talk to her like that?” Demon asks. I shake my head and shove off the stool.

“Sorry, darlin’. Just a little on edge,” I apologize. Cheryl nods and smiles, and I know she isn’t going to hold this against me. It’s not in her to do that.

“You’re good. Get some rest,” she says as I nod. I walk away from the bar feeling a little buzzed and head toward my room. When I get there, I see Heidi already inside.

“What are you doin’ in here?”

“I was going to sleep. Is that okay?”

“This is my room.” I see the way her cheeks heat, turning pink. I see her flinch as if I don’t want her in the room, but I see something else in her eyes. “What is it?”

“I feel safe in here.” Fuck me.

“You are safe in here,” I tell her. “You can sleep in here.” She nods her head and pulls her shorts off but leaves the oversize t-shirt on. I peel off my clothes and climb onto the bed in my boxers as she looks over at me. Her eyes roam my body, and fuck does my cock like it. I know I can’t fuck her, and I wouldn’t. Not under these circumstances.

“You want me to wear clothes?” I ask, not wanting her to be uncomfortable. She nods a little nod, and I stand back up and move to my dresser. I pull out my sweatpants and slip them on before heading back to the bed. Dropping down, I let out a sigh as she climbs on next to me.
