Fur and Claws (Race Games 4) - Page 42

FORTY-ONE

Theo St. Munic stood in the middle of the beautiful apartment, taking in all the trinkets and collectibles lining the shelves. Munin, despite her modernization, still couldn’t help her impulse to collect. She had a fondness for shiny things, longed for them, and with her three new mates, the shelves were full to bursting. They never passed up an opportunity to bring her something new.

“You’re certain?” Theo asked the raven as she stood in the middle of the room.

A warrior through and through, Munin was glorious to behold. She’d taken to working behind the scenes for their cause rather than center stage, like Cricket and Danica. Theo snorted. “I can’t imagine Mazu is happy to be held prisoner.”

“The contact may have mentioned she took out a good number of guards before Poseidon got to her. She’s been running for years. It just finally caught up to her.” Munin shifted. “I’d offer to help, but wings don’t do so well in water.”

Theo waved away her offer. “This is something I must do myself, it seems. Don’t you worry, Munin. I’ll get her out in time for her race.”

He turned to go, but Munin called him back. He glanced over his shoulder. “We’re certain it’s Zeus and others?” He nodded. “Perhaps, if one would like more answers, it would be best to seek out The Morrigan,” Muni offered. “She’s always meddling where she’s able.”

He inclined his head slightly. “I’ll remember to pay her a visit.”

And then the High Wizard disappeared as was his signature move, off to hunt for a Kelpie in need of saving. When it came to Gods and plots of destruction, well, he supposed he’d have to handle things himself.

A High Wizard never backed down from a task.

His father had taught him that. . .
