Kace (Shattered Souls MC 3) - Page 9

He passes it around as Brooks comes over. “We need to have a meeting later.”

Fuck. I nod as everyone else agrees. Maybe fixing the house will have to wait.

Harper gets up when her cell phone rings, and Zane watches her like a hawk until she’s out of sight.

“Who’s she talking to?” I ask because he looks slightly pissed.

He turns to me and lifts his shoulders. “Ivy.”

What the fuck?

Chapter 2

Ivy

The bright sun shining through my huge bedroom window has me waking up with a smile. I slowly blink my eyes open and check the time. When I see that I have a half hour until I need to be up, I roll over and look outside. This apartment might be small, but the views make up for it. I love waking up to the ocean in the distance and the palm trees swaying from the slight breeze. The sky is always bright blue, and the clouds are few and far between. I can’t remember a time in my life that I loved waking up just to enjoy the view.

Before I moved to California, I found this apartment and put a deposit down immediately. It’s completely updated. The kitchen has crisp white cabinets and counters with a bright blue backsplash. It reminds me of the ocean out my window. It has a long peninsula with stools on the opposite side and that’s where I eat. There’s no dining room, but considering it’s just me, I didn’t care. The entire apartment is painted a pale blue with light hardwood flooring. I’m not sure if it was the designer’s intent, but it reminds me of the beach, the ocean and the sand. It was the living room with the wall of windows and sliding glass door that leads to a small balcony that sold me though. I don’t even have my small tan couch facing the TV hanging on the wall, it’s facing the windows. I love sitting there, looking outside. It’s peaceful and after the last few months, peace is exactly what I needed.

My alarm goes off and I know I need to climb out from under my thick white comforter and get ready for work. I toss the covers off and pad to the bathroom to get a quick shower. As I step in I let the warm water run over my aching body. I’ve decided since I live in California now that I should take up running on the beach. No one told me what a bitch it would be and I struggle every evening to go just a little further. I close my eyes and let the water run down my body and not for the first time I think of Kace.

The night of Harper and Zane’s wedding when we finally gave in to the months of pent up sexual attraction is a night I think of more often than I’d like to admit. The way he made me feel, no man has even come close to that. There is no doubt that he is very sexually experienced. I’ve had my fair share of guys, but I’m willing to bet his number is ten times mine.

I’ll admit I was nervous as hell walking up to him because I knew my intention. I knew I was leaving, and I wanted to give in to everything I was feeling. Maybe if he had made a move sooner things would have been different, but I realized that he didn’t want a relationship. It hurt my ego, but I wasn’t going to let it stop me from finally being with him.

When we got into the bedroom and he undressed, my mouth almost hit the floor. This muscular tattooed body is a work of art. The way the tattoos seem to move when his muscles flexed made it hard to look away. When I saw his nipples were pierced, I was shocked, but not as shocked as when I saw his cock. Not only is it pierced and I’m certain I will never in my life again get the pleasure he gave me with that, but he is big. Not big in the way that will rip you open, but the biggest dick I’ve ever seen. I wanted to drop to my knees and try to take as much of him in my mouth as I could, but my nerves wouldn’t allow it.

He gave me three orgasms that night, fucking three. Most of the guys I’ve been with, I didn’t even come close to an orgasm, yet Kace’s skilled body knew exactly how to draw them out of me. I didn’t want the night to end, I didn’t want to wake up alone, and I didn’t want to cry, but it all happened.

I shake my head clearing it of those thoughts as I step out of the shower. I quickly get dressed in my gray pencil skirt and pink blouse. When I first started this job, I was nervous because I’ve never worked in an office before and I really didn’t know what to expect from being a personal assistant. Once I was here though, it all fell into place. My boss is great and very patient with me still learning. It’s not as laid back as working at Souls Two was, but I’m making more money so it’s worth it.

I blow dry my brown hair which I’ve added some light highlights to and style it with some wavy beach curls. I put on my makeup, but not heavy, just enough to look like I’m not feeling like crap again. After I’m done, I look at myself and smile. I clean up pretty damn good. The running is helping tone my body already and I’m really liking the result. I was always pretty confident with my body, but out here everyone seems a little more toned and tanned. That’s my next mission. I keep burning, I need to get a nice tan.

After I grab my phone, I head to the kitchen to make my coffee before I leave for work. I keep the TV on for background noise because it’s a little lonely. I’m used to living alone, but I haven’t really made any friends here yet. Which means the only real interaction I have with people is at work and that’s only five days a week. I went out a few times, but I was always ready for bed long before the girls I was with were. It’s strange because when I was hanging out with Harper and the guys I never wanted sleep. Maybe it’s just because I was more comfortable with an old friend or maybe it was because I wanted Kace to notice me. I roll my eyes as I tighten the lid on my cup. I’m such an idiot.

Once I get to the office, I sit at my desk and fire up the computer. I have a few emails I need to send out before I need to go to a meeting with Debra, my boss.

“Morning Ivy,” Mia says, leaning against my desk.

She’s nice and one of the girls I went out with. If you

can picture a Barbie Doll, you are picturing Mia. She’s tall, thin, tan, has big breasts, and long blonde hair. She looks like she belongs on the beach. The highlights in my hair were her idea as a matter of fact.

“Morning Mia. How are you?” I ask, smiling up at her.

She pouts and crosses her arms. “I was supposed to be going away for the weekend with my boyfriend, but he has to work now, so I’m not happy,” she says, pushing her hair over her shoulder.

“That sucks,” I say, reading the email to myself.

“Do you want to go to the beach tomorrow morning? We can spend the whole day there and go out for drinks later,” she suggests.

The idea of doing something other than sitting by myself by the pool is extremely enticing. “You know what? I’d love that,” I say.

She claps her hands, pushing off my desk. “Yay. How about we grab lunch later and get it all planned out?”

“Sounds great.”

“Good Morning, Ivy. Do I have any messages?” Debra asks, standing in front of my desk. Her black hair is in her signature bun in the back of her head with her glasses resting on top. The dark gray suit she is wearing makes the teal blouse pop, but it’s the furrowing brow that has me on edge. Her blue eyes look angry as she sighs waiting for me to answer her.
