Hunt - Page 23

“Everything will be fine, West.” I checked the inside of my bag to make sure I had everything. “I’ll text you the apartment number. When you get there, stay out of sight. The friend and kid are there.”

“Are we going to kill them?” Griff got to my side.

“No. We’ll wait for them to leave.”

West eyed me. “What if they don’t?”

“Then, maybe we will put them to sleep.” I shrugged. “As long as Phoenix doesn’t get hurt. I don’t care.”

“I’m not killing the kid.” West went over to the bed of the truck.

Griff got off his bike. “I don’t mind taking the friend with us too. The way she held that shot gun made me think she could jack a dick good.”

I looked up from my bag and stared at him. “That’s what you thought as she held the barrel of a shot gun at my head?”

“I was nervous. I get freaky when I’m nervous.”

I headed off. “Have the bikes up and be ready for my text.”

Phoenix was smart. Having Quin pretend to be her was a great misdirection. I couldn’t have thought of a better magic trick.

But my patience had left me.

I wanted her more than I had wanted anything in my life. My skin was burning up.

The pleasure of her body was not a warm memory anymore. It was a burning need. It was a fire inside of me that wouldn’t die down until I touched her again.

There was just so much to her. So much that I had become addicted to. So much more that I yearned to learn. All of it was things that I knew I wouldn’t find in another woman. No one was a survivor like her. No one bled like her and made my body crave to see more.

I left the truck. “Stay hidden until her friends leave. I’ll give you a signal.”

“When they go, what will you do?”

“Go in.”

Griff called back, “And do what?”

Make her bleed until she moans.

I picked up my pace.

All I could think about was the pain and pleasure she would feel. I wanted to hear her cry out and beg me to stop.

I ached for the feel of her soft skin and the sight of her ruby red blood. I craved her like an addict craved their drugs. My entire body felt as if it was wrapped by flames, and my heart beat impossibly fast.

I hope they fucking leave soon. They can’t stay the night.

I needed Phoenix in my arms.

I needed her scent flowing through my nostrils.

I needed the taste of her skin on my tongue.

I needed to see those beautiful eyes mixed with fear and pleasure.

I needed her moans.

I needed her screams.

I wish I had more time.

It would have been nice to take her back to my chapel, handcuff her delicate wrists, and hook her in my soul coffin. I imagined that beautiful body dripping with blood as I brought Phoenix to climax after climax.

My dick grew hard in my pants.

Yes. We’ll definitely have a session before I rush her away.

I turned the block.

Griff will have to wait a little bit longer for those donuts.

My body was too lit by fire. Too ready to explode. When I breathed in, it felt like gas revving me up and hope pushing through me. Surely, my adrenaline had spiked.

I almost started running, but it was already odd enough that I was walking down a block with a black duffle bag and leather gloves on my hands, during a warm evening.

Thankfully, no one is out here.

The guys walking the poodle must have returned to their home.

So fucking close.

Approaching the apartment building, I pulled out my phone and checked the screen.

The green light hadn’t moved. Now it blinked several feet away.

I stopped in the center of the sidewalk.

Hopefully, this isn’t another one of your tricks, Phoenix.

I looked around.

There was a chance she realized that I might have tracked the gift. That was why I had gone to great trouble to put it in the blade. The needle-thin tracker was expensive, costing several thousand dollars.

It had been difficult to figure out where to put the tracker and what to put in the box. However, the knife served the best purpose. It would scatter her focus. Upon seeing it, she might have thought of the moment I used it on her and the way her pussy got soaking wet. Next, fear may have come to her too. Perhaps, she figured it was a threat.

Either way, what I hoped wouldn’t hit her mind was logic.

You’re not the only one that knows how to misdirect.

Having trackers in the guns were due to my Type A personality. I always liked to know where my weapons were located. It was good to see that my obsessive behavior could pay off.

Knife or guns. One of them will work.

Checking around me, I walked onto the apartment building’s grass and moved under the tree’s shadows. I scanned the windows, making sure there was no security guard or anyone looking out of their windows.
