Wild Child (Big Sky Cowboys 4) - Page 2

Cody

“You a fan?” asked the pretty blond buckle bunny who had sidled up next to me. It was dark. We were in the wings of the stage, watching my sister, Sarah, play, so the blond had to holler over the music. Her hair was so shiny, almost iridescent in the reflection of the stage lights. I’d noticed her earlier, eyeing me up from the bleachers when I was showing that asshat what a real cowboy looked like. She was a sexy thing, tall and barely clothed. She had on one of those bandana tube tops, a bedazzled belt buckle, and the kind of short shorts that my older brother, Bill, called denim knickers. A VIP pass dangled around her neck. It wasn’t just any pass either; it was a platinum diamond pass, market value for that thing was easily a thousand bucks. Mostly, they gave them to press and bigwigs, but still, it said something about her. I was pretty certain that she was more interested in me than Sarah, but my ego had been known to get ahead of me.

“By obligation,” I smiled. “She’s my twin.”

She nodded. “I wouldn’t have guessed that.”

“No?” I questioned.

“You don’t look alike.”

Every time you told people you were a twin, this was their assumption, that you and your sibling would be clones. Sarah and I were clearly fraternal. I was a stock horse, built burly and sturdy, all muscle and bulk, and Sarah was a thoroughbred filly, lean and ready to race. We looked nothing alike. When we were kids, my brother, Wyatt, used to try to convince me that I was actually a baby who was abandoned at the hospital and our mama felt so bad for me that she brought me home and told everyone she gave birth to twins.

“We're fraternal,” I said, bordering on indignant.

“Obviously,” she said, lifting her arm to point at Sarah. “She has a vagina.” She turned back to me. “And, I’m hoping you’re packing something more oblong. Therefore, you could never be identical. You know you’re different genders, right?”

I laughed. I also didn’t miss the fact that she used the verb ‘hope’ when she referenced my dick. Actually, I kinda got stuck on that. “Well, seeing as we're siblings, I’ve no interest in learning about Sarah’s nether business, but I’m... how’d you phrase that... packing all the oblong equipment one could dream of.” I winked.

“Did you just wink at me?” she teased.

I stood by my moves. “I did.”

In response to my confidence, she smiled in a subtle way that instantly made my balls tighten. My eyes drifted to her lips—pink and full, delectable.

“Saw you outride that cowboy earlier,” she said, her eyes flickered with excitement.

“Saw you watching.”

“You looked good out there.”

“I look good everywhere,” I joked, puffing out my chest.

“Think you’d look good on me?” she said, slyly raising the ante. This girl was a hell-raiser. It was all over her. It wasn’t just the brazen hussy in her words; it was something deeper, like she was an out of control wildfire just waiting to get lit. I could smell it on her, the hunt for a thrill. I liked it.

I took her hand and pulled her into a shadowed corner. Her breathing elevated as I pushed myself into her personal space.

“You wanna find out?” I asked.

“I was thinking I might,” she smarted, not losing her hold on her sass even though the closeness of my body clearly affected her. I could feel the warmth of her breath on my lips. Until that moment, I’d never considered kissing a woman whose name I didn’t know. But that didn’t stop me. The invitation was on the table and I was going for it.

I leaned in, quick but gentle at first. My lips fluttered against hers. They were as soft and plush as they looked, and as soon as I made contact, a guttural need, something born from deep down in the pit of my manhood, rose in my chest. I lost control. I pushed against her, pressing her to the wall behind us and drove my tongue into her mouth. She tasted sweet and clean like ice-cold water on a hot day. Holy fuck, this girl was intoxicating, a seductive siren. All the blood in my body hightailed it south. I was literally ready to nail her to the wall with my cock.

I didn’t though. I broke free of her spell, panting and smiling. I was at Sarah’s show for Pete’s sake. I’d never hear the end of it if I boned some VIP twenty feet from where Sarah was performing.

“You kiss like you ride,” she breathed, regathering her wits.

I knew how I rode. I was the best. I loved horses and riding was defined by my passion for them. I rode with care. I listened. Riding was a partnership. Horses could feel your respect, and they responded to it. But she couldn’t know all that. Either way, she was complimenting me. She’d seen me beat that other guy earlier.

She shifted her body, leaning in to my ear. “You also taste fucking delicious.”

My dick jumped, responding to her smart mouth. I growled. “Do you want me to make you come right here…” I stuttered at a loss for her name.

“Jamison,” she offered, grinning. “And that’s not the worst idea…”

“But?”

“But I think your sister’s set is done.”

I turned to face Sarah at the exact moment that she walked offstage. Fuck. Whipping around back to Jamison, I said, “Don’t go anywhere.”

To my surprise, Jamison pushed past me.

“Oh my God,” she gushed at Sarah. “You were incredible.”

“Thank you.” Sarah smiled. As usual, she was sweaty and pumped up on performance adrenaline.

With a sweet genuineness masking her lie, Jamison said, “You’ll have to forgive us. I’m such a klutz. I dropped my earring, and your brother was kind enough to help me look for it.”

Sarah looked Jamison up and down. I saw the judgment flicker in her eyes and I felt unreasonably mad about it. Who was Sarah to judge anyone? We were freaking cowpokes from a small town in Montana. Just because she’d gone and got famous didn’t make her any better than Jamison.

“Oh, I’m sure he did,” Sarah said. “Cody is mighty helpful to damsels in distress.”

I tamped down the anger that had started to percolate. I could handle her judgment when it was directed at me. I was pretty sure Sarah started judging my choices in the womb. She followed the rules. I broke ’em. That was just part of our dynamic. Annoyed, I rolled my eyes at her.

In response to Sarah’s comment, Jamison's tone shifted and she picked up the anger I’d put down. “Actually, that earring bit was a bold-faced lie. I was trying to cover for your brother because I seduced the shit out of him and we were sucking face in the corner over there.” Sarah’s eyes went wide as Jamison continued. “I’m not trying to be a crazy bitch right now, but I’m so not feeling the way you’re looking down your nose at Cody like he’s some manwhore you get to judge.” With a smile on her face, Jamison curtsied. “Tonight, you may have the pleasure of judging a plain old woman-whore, milady.”

I laughed, then Sarah hooked her arm through Jamison’s and said, “I like you.”
