Damaged Dragon's Forbidden Love (Shifter Doctor Daddies Instalove Romance 1) - Page 2

“Uh-oh, here he comes.” She nodded toward the double doors that hadn’t yet been unlocked.

I bounced from my seat and flew across the room, my dragon speed evident in my human form as I unlocked the doors for the family practitioner.

Herculean in stature and chiseled like a Greek god, Dr. Bishop stood about five inches taller than me with short, jet-black hair, chocolate brown eyes, and an Aquiline nose. His square jaw gave him a favorable appearance, one that put just about anyone under his spell, no matter their attraction preferences.

Truly, he was a hunk. And I was completely under his spell.

An amber musk greeted my nostrils as he smiled and walked inside, drifting slowly past me. “Good morning, Miss Brianna.”

“Dr. Bishop—it’s good to see you.” I blushed as I shut the door behind him. “I mean, it’s a nice morning, isn’t it?”

“A fine morning.”

I grinned bashfully and walked back to my desk, lifting my cup of coffee. “Here you go, Dr. Bishop.”

His eyes brightened. “For me?”

Geraldine almost protested until I secretly kicked her sneaker. I smiled brightly as I extended the cup to Dr. Bishop. “Yes, it’s for you.”

“How sweet,” he commented as he accepted the cup. His fingers grazed mine, the tips brushing over my knuckles and causing a whirlwind of emotions to flutter in my gut—plus something else, something I didn’t dare allow to come to fruition. “Thank you, Miss Brianna. And please, call me Marshall.”

“Marshall,” I repeated, a dreamy look filling my features as I watched him take a sip. “Of course.”

When he walked past me, I got a full whiff of his scent. Amber—I knew he didn’t wear cologne, so it must have been him and him alone, a musk that clung to his skin that indicated his origins. There was a heat to it as well, a smoky sting that made me think of late-night summer bonfires.

The moment he was gone, Geraldine snapped her fingers in front of my face. “Earth to Bri.”

“Sorry, what were you saying?”

“I wasn’t saying anything.” She eyed me with a suspicious smirk. “But I’d say you were thinking pretty hard there for a second.”

“Yeah, no.”

She laughed. “Go sit down before you faint.”

“I’m not going to faint over Dr. Bi—I mean, Marshall. I’m just going to, uh…” I sank into the desk chair and sighed as I leaned my chin into my hand. “I’m just going to think really hard about his full lips pressed to mine. That’s all.”

Geraldine laughed. “Honey, you’ve got it bad.”

And that’s the problem, I thought. Because I know I shouldn’t.
