Annabella rushes over to me, throwing herself around me in a hug. I laugh away the tears, shaking my head, and stroking my hand through her dark hair.
“I’m fine, sweetness,” I tell her.
“Is it the crazy baby hormones, Mommy?” she says.
The laughter comes again. “I think it might be. But it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t change how I feel.”
“I love you, Mommy,” she says, squeezing me tighter.
“I love you too,” I tell her, leaning down and kissing the top of her head.
