Mafia Daddy's Second Chance - Page 4

“Sort of.” He admitted, rising to go wash his plate, “it’s nothing that I can’t handle, though. They will be easily disposed of.”

Those words came out of his mouth with such ease, I almost didn’t believe what I was hearing. I finished my food, practically forcing myself to take the last bite I was so full, and saw he was finishing washing up the dishes. It was a little nice to have a man doing this, tending to me instead, but I just had this gut feeling that Graham wasn’t being completely honest about what happened last night, and about himself.

It made me wonder what else he was hiding.

“Evelyn.” I heard him call out my name.

I looked up, freezing when I saw that he was now beside me, staring down at me with these smoldering eyes. It dawned on me that he had lost the apron, his muscular, bandaged body now on display for my eyes to fully see. I felt a little bad that I hadn’t even heard him approaching me, making me wonder if he had been speaking to me and I didn’t hear a single word he said.

“I’m sorry!” I apologized quickly, “I wasn’t paying attention. Did you say something?”

He took my plate, smiling slightly, lighting up his handsome face, “I did, but it wasn’t anything too important. I was just going to ask what your plans were for the day.”

“Oh, I have to work till five.” I told him, wondering if I should be saying this, “and then after that, I don’t know.”

“Hmm.” Was all he could respond with, washing the rest of the dishes.

“Why?” I asked him, nervously gnawing on my bottom lip.

“Would you like to go out with me tonight?” He asked me, so nonchalantly that I almost wondered if I had heard him right, “I just have to go get all this checked out and dealt with, and then I’ll be free.”

My eyes widened slightly, “you want to go out with me?”

His eyebrow rose slightly as if he didn’t expect that as a response, “is there a reason why I shouldn’t, Evelyn?”

“I - I just wasn’t expecting that.” I admitted, nervously scratching the back of my neck, wondering why he wanted to go out with me, “can I think about it? I’m not so sure how the rest of the day is going to go.”

“Of course.” He told me, but his voice sounded like he was disappointed, “I’ll leave my phone number with you before I leave. You can message me any time.”

All I could do was nod my head, quickly rising to my feet and fleeing to the sanctuary of my room. I closed the door, locking it as I wished I could be much more assertive and flirt with him, but I didn’t think that was going to be possible. I think that he only finds me attractive because I saved his life. I’m not so sure if we would ever speak with one another if that were the case.

By the time I went back out there, Graham was gone, but he left his number as promised.

I just wasn’t so sure I was going to message him.
