Vengeance of The Fallen (Twisted Legends Collection 1) - Page 25

“I want the cameras on the room all night,” I inform Falcon. “Call Cypher, let’s hear what he’s got.” I settle back on the sofa beside Hawk who’s silently resting against the leather back. He is a man of few words, and I wonder how he handled being so close to Lucille. I wanted him to be the one to grab her because I need him to come out of his shell, but something tells me I have a lot of work ahead of me.

“Twice in one week,” Cypher greets over the call, catching my attention. “What can I do for you Falcon?”

“I need any intel you have,” Falcon responds as he leans back in his enormous leather chair.

“Seems our man is connected to an underground trafficking ring which is still going even though he’s behind bars. It’s being run out of China, with links to Russia, and Colombia.”

“Triad, Bratva, and Cartel?” I question in surprise. I wasn’t expecting the combination of organizations. I knew Lucille’s father was into some bad shit—he lost his mind and went on a killing spree—and now he’s locked up, he’s being kept safe in the penitentiary because they were afraid of what the inmates would do to him. But it seems they should be more concerned about the outside getting in.

“Apparently,” Cypher tells us. “There are also whispers about a jail break, and I do not doubt they’ll get it right with the connections they have on the inside. He will never get parole, so it’s the only option, and when he gets out, because he will, he’ll come after her.”

“I don’t like it,” I tell Cypher.

“Tell me about it,” he agrees. “I’ll have names and locations in the next hour. I’ll send everything over to Falcon.” He hangs up before I can ask anything more. But we got all we needed from him for now.

“I want all the details the second it arrives,” I tell Falcon.

“Do you think Mahoney is going to get out?” This comes from Hawk, and I can hear the tension in his voice. I don’t blame him. The thought of a man who fucked up our lives so badly being free doesn’t sit well with me.

“If he is, we’ll find him,” I promise him. It’s a vow. I will make sure the bastard pays, and when he does it will be slow, torturously, and I’ll watch with satisfaction when he finally begs for mercy. Because he will.

“I think he’ll be the one to find us,” Falcon says. “His daughter is in our house, and since he had people tracking her, I have a feeling he’s going to pay his little girl a visit the moment he can.”

“He won’t be able to fly commercial, which means he’s going to have private jets carrying him around,” I tell Falcon who’s already tapping away at his keyboard. With Mahoney’s links to the criminal organizations, I don’t doubt they’ll assist him in crossing borders without being seen.

“The moment any flight lands at any of the air strips, we’ll known about it,” Falcon announces, but he doesn’t look away from the screen. He could easily sit here all day and not move, whereas I like to be out on the road.

“What was this new job you mentioned?” I ask realizing I didn’t hear a word he said about it. I was too focused on Lucille.

“I haven’t got all the details yet, but it’s an easy one,” he says. “Some guy wants the man his wife is cheating with killed.” Falcon shrugs. He’s right, it’s an easy one. “But…” He holds up a finger as he types with one hand, then stops, looks at us, and grins. “The man in question is some famous actor who’s doing a tour in the UK for the next three days. We’ll have to get to him quickly, and make sure it’s public.”

“What?” Unease coils in my gut at the request. We don’t work in public. We stay in the shadows. “That doesn’t sit well with me.”

“I know.” Falcon nods. “But I have a feeling there may be more to this than meets the eye. I’m going to do a deep dive tonight.”

“You mean you’re going to sit behind your desk and watch the pretty prisoner in the basement,” Hawk retorts as he leans forward, his elbows on his knees. He doesn’t say much, but he is perceptive.

“Hey,” Falcon starts, “you can’t tell me neither of you were going to do the same.” I can’t deny it, because I was going to watch her for a short time. The cameras in the basement are set up in each corner, giving us a view of the girl. She’s going to be intriguing to observe. I know she has a darkness in her, I recognized it the moment she dropped to her knees. When Falcon grabbed her hair, tugging her head back, I saw the desire swimming in the depths of her pretty eyes.
