The Woodland Packs - Page 108

“So, if I decide to return to town and stay single?” Which was the most likely thing at this point.

“Then we’ll wait for you to come back.”

He said it like there was no other choice.

“But what if I didn’t want to be with you? If I wanted to stay single for the rest of my life?”

Grayson shrugged and opened the door to a shop. “Then we would wait. And if you decided you never wanted us, then we’d stay single, too. However, you have to understand that we’re not going to go down without a fight.”

His smile made my stomach quiver.

“What do you mean?”

He leaned forward and whispered in my ear, his hot breath causing a shiver to course down my spine. “I mean… I’d use all my seduction techniques to convince you otherwise. But after that, if you decide not to have us… Then again, I would wait.”

When he stepped back, my knees trembled and buckled and I fell forward.

Grayson caught me against his hard body and held me tight.

I moaned and his hands slid lower, gripping my ass.

My pussy tightened.

I had to get away from him. I couldn’t think straight.

“Ah, well… I’m glad you aren’t one to give up easily or quickly.”

I managed to get up again and walk into the store, though I could feel how hot and red my face must be.

An older woman was standing behind the counter, her shock at seeing me a palpable thing.

“Hello. I’m Sharon.”

I walked forward and stuck out my hand. “I’m Nevaeh. I know I look ridiculous, but I had to borrow some of Claire’s clothes.”

She looked me up and down. “Size four?”

“I prefer a six.” I said from pure habit.

She tsked at me, as older women were wont to do. “Why? Because you still feel like you’re not skinny enough?”

She pulled clothes from her racks.

Jumpers, jeans, tank tops.

“Well… um…”

She walked up to me and gave me a straight look in the eye. “You’re perfect, and compared to all the women in this town, a good fifty pounds too light, so go try on some clothes that fit you.”

I stared at her for a minute, then looked back at Grayson.

“Um…”

“Do what she says. Everyone else does.”

I took the jeans and moved into the change room. Not sure what world I’d fallen into, but for the first time since in a very long time, I felt truly safe.
