The Woodland Packs - Page 77

The guy, who had a big happy smile and spiky hair made me instantly comfortable and at home in this house.

How he did that, I had no idea.

“Hi, I’m Nevaeh. I’m a nurse at the hospital.”

The other two men approached and their strength pushed through the room as though they’d reached out and touched me.

I pulled my legs up and curled into a ball.

Medium and large kissed Claire too, their touches on her face and neck both possessive and caring. Despite my earlier reservations, I was transfixed watching them.

I didn’t dare blink in case I missed something, and yet my belly tightened. And it wasn’t with fear. These men were kind of… hot. The whole situation was. In a hugely taboo way.

I began to see the advantages to Claire’s system. She’d get three times the kisses, the affection, the time and the effort.

Or in my case, it would probably be three times the vicious attacks and stalker-type behaviour.

I shuddered at the thought.

“I’m Taylor,” the medium one introduced himself as he sat beside Claire and casually pulled her onto his lap.

“Dexter,” the big one said, crossing his arms over his big chest. My throat thickened and I swallowed awkwardly.

He was as big as a wrestler.

Claire reached up and patted Dexter’s big, beefy arms. “I know he’s huge, but he’s a massive teddy bear. Don’t be stressed by him. He works his ass off building houses every day. Don’t you, hun?”

Dexter looked down at Claire and I saw the hardness around him fade.

Yep, in this case it was the woman that made these men soft.

“Oh, I’m not scared... it’s okay.”

Taylor rolled his eyes from where he sat on the couch. “Really? ‘Cause you smell like a rabbit about to bolt. But in this case, you probably want to run like your ass is on fire.”

“I smell like it? What do you mean?”

Was I farting or something? Because it was literally impossible for humans to smell fear. Animals yes… humans, no.

Claire cleared her throat. “Ah… what he means is…”

“Would you like a hot drink or something, Nevaeh? Did I say that right?” Jay asked, getting up and moving to the small, open plan kitchen.

“Ah, yeah, you did, and a coffee would be great.”

“You working tonight?” Claire asked.

“Yeah. Caffeine needed. You know what it’s like.”

“Yeah… if you can get it by IV, then even better.”

I shared a smile with my friend, my colleague. I finally began to relax.

The men must have felt it too, because the two bigger guys got up to leave.

“We gotta get back to work, but we’ll see you for dinner, okay?”

They both kissed Claire, waved to me and left.
