“Oh… ah…”
Shit! Why had I said I was going to save them?
Did I want to stay with the pack? I had no idea at this point, but surely we could work something out.
After all, the hospital was only an hour away from where they lived.
“We’re working on a compromise. But for now, I’ll go get them if you’d like? They’re here in the hospital.”
“Mary, too?”
For the first time I saw a softness in the Alpha’s eyes and it touched my heart to know the depth of love he still felt for his mate after all these years.
“No, just the boys. But I’m sure we can get your wife in soon.”
A nurse bustled in, checking vitals and being a general annoyance, if the look on Jack’s face was to be believed.
“I’ll bring your sons in to see you in a few minutes, Mr. Monaghan.”
I winked at him as he rolled his eyes.
And I went and found my wolf triad.
Chapter 12.
Dexter.
I looked up from the uncomfortable hospital chair and Claire was waving at us to come to her.
“Let’s go.”
We stood up and followed our mate through the sterile hospital, until I finally saw my father, alive and well. He was sitting up in bed with a smile on his face like I’d never seen before.
“Dex!”
I leaned down and put my arms awkwardly around my dad, holding him tight. I hadn’t realised how much I’d missed him until now. I didn’t want to let him go.
“Good to see you, Dad.”
I pulled back and the nurse excused herself from the room.
Claire pulled the curtains around us and we all squashed into the small space.
My father looked at me with an expression I couldn’t read. “You’ve found your mate.”
Surprise pushed through me and I looked from Claire to my father.
“Claire told you?”
“I could smell her on you… and not just you.” Dad’s gaze went from Jay to Taylor and back to me.
He didn’t look impressed.
“Yes. Claire is our mate—my pack’s mate. She’s bonded to all three of us.”
“How is that possible?”
Claire giggled and shook her head, putting her hand on her forehead. “You tell me, Jack.”
