The Woodland Packs - Page 48

“Have you seen any of them shift?” Sue asked me as we settled to sit on a large wooden bench.

“Ah, yes. Jay sh…shifted.” If that was the word for it. “He turned into a brown wolf, which was pretty extraordinary… to put it simply.”

Sue laughed. “Well you’re about to get a treat, because an Omega wolf is rather small and timid compared to my son and Mary’s.”

She indicated to the woods, where my three lovers stood about twenty feet away.

They stripped out of their shirts and began unbuttoning their jeans. Were they seriously going to get naked right in front of their moms?

But before I could look away, or voice my complaint, the men were no more.

“Oh my God.”

There were three wolves standing on the men’s clothes, in varying sizes and colours.

I stood up, unable to sit. Unable to run away.

I took a few steps closer. I wanted to touch them.

“Dexter’s the big silver one, isn’t he?”

“Yes,” said Sue. “And the black one is my Taylor.”

They were magnificent as they began to jump and run and play around the trees of the forest.

“They’re really beautiful.”

And they were. Gone was my fear. In its place was awe and gratitude, and love.

Yes, love. Love for these amazing creatures and the world I’d been introduced into.

There was a nasty growl that sounded from deep in the woods and my wolves began racing towards me.

I staggered back and the mothers grabbed me.

“You need to get back inside the house, now!”

My wolves had run to me, only to turn and face off against whatever was coming.

“Why? What’s going on?” I asked as they practically dragged me back to the house, up the stairs and into the back door.

“The bears are here.”

Four words I never thought would accompany the terrifying sound of the ground shaking as an army charged the house.

Chapter 10.

Dexter.

The ground shook with the bears’ approach. I’d never seen so many in my life, and they were all charging towards us.

I would not let them through. Not while my mate was in the house.

Was that why they were here? To take my mate from me?

Never!

I bared my teeth and let out a vicious growl, then threw my head back and howled to the sky.
