The Woodland Packs - Page 32

I laughed. What else could I do? I’d been told previously I was boring in bed.

“Um… thanks. But you’re the incredible one. Is that the mating thing you were talking about?”

He rubbed my back, his hand moving up and down my spine in a soothing rhythm I could get very used to.

“It’s the start of it. Yes. But there’s so much more to it. Sleep, beautiful.”

“Oh… I’ll just rest for a bit.”

I didn’t mean to fall asleep, and normally I never would.

Not after sex.

But the sense of peace and safety I felt when I was with Dexter was beautiful, and I didn’t stop myself as my body relaxed against the pillows.

Chapter 7.

Taylor.

The banging coming from Dexter’s room had finally stopped, but the anger in my gut continued to stew.

“He’s got her in his bed, upstairs.”

“Yeah, so?” Jay called from the kitchen.

I couldn’t stay still. My feet were anxious and my heart raced like I’d been running through the woods.

“So… should we go up there? Should we join them?”

Then I heard a door close and Dexter’s heavy feet on the stairs.

I turned and leaned against the bench, feigning nonchalance. It wouldn’t help anyone if he knew how jealous I was that he’d gotten to Claire first.

Dexter bounced down the bottom two stairs, his jeans hanging off his hips, the buttons haphazardly done up.

His smile was lazy, his other clothes were all missing, and I was pretty sure I could spy bite marks on his shoulder.

I crossed my arms over my chest and struggled against the anger whirling in my gut. I could not be jealous of a member of my own pack. I couldn’t. We’d never survive sharing a mate if this was how it felt every time she had sex with one of them.

Especially when I’d been the one to point out how many benefits this would bring for all of us.

But it was a losing battle inside my own mind.

“How was she?” I bit out, unable to control myself.

My tone was vile and Dexter gave me a reproving look.

“What’s up with you?”

I uncrossed my arms and began to pace the kitchen.

“I don’t know. I feel… fuck… I don’t know. Restless, angry.”

Full of testosterone. Like I needed a fight, or a good fuck.

Dexter laughed. “That’s just because you haven’t mated with her yet. When she wakes up, go get her.”

His words calmed me, somewhat.
