A Fated Night - Page 32

“What do you mean, Bunny?”

The next few words she intended to say were clipped right out of her mouth. Was it something he said?

“That was adorable.” Lana opened her mouth and inhaled his lips. Next thing Ken knew? Lana was on top of him, grinding her hips against his and oh-so-kindly asking that he get hard again. She desired to know what it was like to have him come in her mouth.

He agreed that a mutual sharing of oral talents should take place. Now.

Chapter 7

“Everyone’s Talking About Her.”

Lana was in a daze from the moment she woke up in Ken’s arms until she returned to the conference and had a hard dose of reality smack her in the face.

Too bad, too. Lana’s sojourn to Ken’s hotel (and she could still not get over that a man like him owned a whole hotel) had been like escaping into a fairy-tale. Well, Lana’s version of a fairy-tale, anyway. She didn’t care about being treated like a princess, or encountering magic at every turn, or feeling like she was in epic, romantic love. She cared about getting fucked hard by a hot guy. Having that same guy then become the cuddler of her dreams was a tender bonus.

What she didn’t expect was thinking as fondly of the cuddling and pillow talk as she did the sex. All three rounds of it.

Men were rarely worth hanging out with after the deed was done. This was one of many reasons Lana did not seriously date a man often. Too much effort. Too much drama. Too much of the same thing again and again. Oh, she casually dated many men, but as soon as things took a turn for the monogamous, she was bored. That boredom usually started long before going steady was even on the table.

Ken was not boring. Not yet, anyway. There were more layers to him than Lana’s last birthday cake, and she was only getting started licking away the icing. He’s so confident in his sexuality. He has so many career ambitions. He’s diversifying! Lana knew she was approaching thirty when a guy diversifying his investment portfolios turned her on.

He was also kinky. The last time they had sex, she asked him to hold her hands above her head while he fucked her. “I can do you better. Come to my place tomorrow evening. I want to take you to dinner and then really get in that head of yours. Tell me every dirty thing you like, Lana.”

In a perfect world, he would be a perfect boyfriend. But it wasn’t a perfect world, as Lana unfortunately rediscovered when she joined the conference after making a quick trip up to her hotel room.

Word had spread about her. Idle boy gossip, she was sure, although Roger probably played a big part as well. Lana couldn’t walk five feet without someone from this agency or someone from that firm implying he could make her rich beyond her dreams. Only half of them followed that statement up with a promise to make her happy in more than one way.

Ken was right. Lana had known he was right before he said anything, but that didn’t mean he was less right. Besides, it made it feel more official when she had outside confirmation and it wasn’t pure conjecture brought on by a woman’s paranoia. (Not that she didn’t have anything to be paranoid about, to be sure… but one of Lana Losers’s greatest faults was her inclination to completely give in to her paranoia and engage in self-sabotage.)

Perhaps it was even worse that it was a man of his standing who noticed it and felt compelled to warn her. To what end? Out of the goodness of his own heart? Ken had made it clear he had no intention of hiring her for his boss’ firm now that they had established a sexual relationship. Even so… wasn’t it in his best interest to steer her away from his competitors? Assuming he really was impressed with her achievements?

Ah, there it was. The paranoia rearing its ugly head. If she wasn’t paranoid about her appearance, she was losing her mind over her job or her love life. See? This was why she dumped one over the other two. It wasn’t worth fretting over all three when two alone were enough to make her lose her mind. So she would say goodbye to the serious love life in favor of enjoying her youthful beauty and kicking ass at her chosen career.

Then dickheads like Ken Andrews had to come along and make her feel like she was ready for a more serious, more exclusive (but maybe not 100% monogamous) relationship.
