Ram Remy (Providence Family Ties 4) - Page 51

“A week after she had her hip done, I was walking past the field the softball team practiced on, and there was Coach Maggie with her walker, yelling at them to pull their fingers out of their asses.”

“I know,” I repeated. “I quit the team the next day.”

This time when he laughed, I felt it against my neck because he’d move to lean over me to see my face. “You had the full Coach Maggie trauma, didn’t you?”

Staring up into his smiling eyes, I said dryly, “What gave you that impression?”

His eyes moved from mine down to my mouth, and then the smile slowly slid off his face as he stared at it. “Tana, I’m going to go and wash this shit off my hands, then I’m coming back, and I’m kissing you. I’ve been fucking dying to do it since you started working here. If you don’t want that, I’ll give you what you need for your back, and you can sleep in my bed. I’ll take the couch.”

It was like the fall had knocked some sense into me, either that or it was confidence. “Why the hell would I not want to kiss you?”

With a growl, he got up off the bed and went through to the bathroom. It took him only a minute, and then he was back. I hadn’t been idle while he’d been gone either because I’d scooted higher up the bed, so my whole body was on it instead of just my upper half. He crawled over me and lowered his body half on, half off mine when he got to the bed.

“Is this hurting your back?”

“Not even a little.”

His mouth was on mine before I could even draw in my next breath, and I opened it immediately, just as his tongue swiped across my lower lip and then flicked into my mouth.

Spearing my fingers into the hair on the back of his head, I moaned as the kiss deepened further, and he rested more of his weight on me.

Here’s the problem: I had very little experience, and by that, I mean practically none.

In high school, the guys had all seemed so fixated on shit that didn’t matter, so I’d tuned them out. After I’d graduated, I’d gone on a couple of dates and kissed them at the end, but that was it. All the sex I put into my books was based on what I’d seen in the movies or what made sense in my brain, and admittedly, a wee bit of porn.

Would that be able to help me here if this progressed beyond kissing?

Even thinking about it, I wanted that to happen. Running my hands down his back, I pushed them under his t-shirt and trailed my fingertips over the soft skin at the base of his spine.

That’s when my confidence left me, and I began wondering if I was doing the right thing.

Almost like he sensed it, he rolled us, so I was lying on top of him, my legs straddling his.

Pulling his mouth away from mine, Remy gently pushed my hair away from the side of my face. “We’ll take this at your pace. If you’re not ready for this or don’t want it, we’ll stop, and I’ll cuddle you all night.”

“You’ll cuddle me?” I asked, shocked that a guy like him had that in him. I figured he was more of a caveman who needed his space and had mattress boundaries all figured out in his head.

He had a sheepish look on his face as he shrugged. “I’ve never done it before, but with you, it doesn’t sound like something I wouldn’t enjoy.” Then he remembered something and groaned. “Shit, your back.”

“It doesn’t hurt,” I told him honestly. “And I think I do want to do this.”

His eyes flicked over my face, likely looking to see if I was telling him the truth. “How about this, we’ll only go as far as you want to and feel comfortable going. Does that sound okay?”

At that moment, the feelings I had for him deepened so much it felt like my chest was on fire.

“That sounds perfect.”

Pulling me closer until my mouth was only an inch away from his, he husked, “You got a really weird look on your face right then. What went through your mind?”

I stiffened, unsure if I should tell him and risk Remy running out of the room like his ass was on fire.

“Tell me,” he urged, skimming his lips over mine in a whisper-soft kiss that made my stomach clench.

“The way you look out for me and the fact you don’t want me to go further tonight than I’m comfortable doing?” He nodded when I stopped and then waited patiently for me to get the guts to finish. “I-I have deep feelings for you, and they got deeper when you said that.”
