E is for Everett (Men of Alphabet Mountain) - Page 26

As I swirled my fingertips over myself, the fantasy got more intense. I could see myself riding him, his powerful hands squeezing my ass while his tongue played with my nipple. I moved into position in the tub, holding on to the rim as I planted my toes on the bottom, trying to keep my voice down as I neared climax.

I could almost feel him inside me, filling me. In my vision, he was moaning, a deep cry of intense pleasure. His cock would pulse and throb as he came, and I came with that image. As my body shook and my toes curled, I bit my lip so as not to cry out and clenched my eyes shut tightly, riding the wave until it passed.

Then, finally relaxed, I sank back into the tub and let the stress of the past few weeks fade away. When I finally got out, I dried off and put on a light T-shirt.

I slipped into the covers and shut off the light, the television droning on in the background. But I wasn’t paying attention. I was still thinking about Everett covered in soapy suds in my bathtub.

EVERETT

“Morning,” Wendy said as she came into the office. I checked my watch and smiled.

“Good timing,” I said. “You are fantastic at that.”

“Being on time?” she asked. “Yeah, when you have a kid by yourself, you start to rely on schedules a lot more.”

“Well, I’m glad you were able to make it in. Today’s going to be an office day on account of the weather.”

“Is there that much paperwork?” she asked, taking off her raincoat.

“No,” I said, laughing. “But since it’s Deacon’s first day back, I wanted you here to help me and maybe we can cut out early.”

“Ahh,” she said. “So, you want to brag about my performance to Deacon.”

“Maybe,” I said.

She had me pegged. Like usual, Wendy was ahead of everyone, and she rolled her eyes as she smiled and walked by me into the kitchen.

“I’m going to need a lot of coffee to get through a day where you do nothing but compliment me,” she said. “However, I will try.”

I laughed. “I bet you will.”

Wendy went about brewing the coffee and I started the paperwork early. I didn’t want to overwhelm Deacon on his first day back, so I was doing a lot of the complicated stuff for him early. Plus, it meant that I was going to get out of there around lunch. A nice long lunch sounded great.

Not long after I got into the paperwork, the door opened and Deacon came in, followed by Lauren. I came out of the office with Wendy and greeted him at the door. Wendy brought in his mug filled with coffee and handed it over.

“Here you go, Deacon,” she said. “Nice to see you back.”

“Nice to be back,” he said. “Is bringing coffee a regular part of your duties?”

“No, so don’t get used to it,” she said, laughing. “One time thing.”

“Fair enough,” he said, taking a sip. “I missed grabbing a cup coming out of the house. Was tempted to go grab some at the diner, but you know.”

“Rebecca isn’t there,” I said.

“Right, on account of—” he continued.

“Her being home with the baby,” I said.

“Yup,” he said, grinning. “Man, as much as that was nice to be home with the wee one, it’s kind of nice to be back here again.”

“Well, it’s good to have you back,” I said.

“Did we fall behind too much while I was gone?” he asked, walking to the office he and I shared and plopping down at his desk.

“Not really,” I said. “I did a decent job of keeping up. Plus, Wendy is a natural at, well, everything.”

“Is she now?” Deacon asked, looking back at the doorway where she stood.

“She is,” I said. “She took over the TPS reports, the AEW reports, and the invoicing from day guys. Plus, she was out in the field as field manager five days a week. She’s awesome.”

“Well, damn,” Deacon said. “That’s impressive. No wonder you met me at the door. I’m no longer needed. Getting fired from my own company.”

“Our company,” I said, “as in all of us. But yeah, she’s good, man.”

“Sounds like it,” Deacon said. “Glad you’re on the team, Wendy.”

“Welcome,” she said.

“Alright, then,” Deacon said, sighing. “Is this all I have to catch up on?” He indicated the small stack of files on his desk.

“Yes,” I said. “Everything else is done.”

“Well, then I think you should take some time off. I got two weeks. What do you say to a week off?”

“Are you serious?” I asked. “You took two weeks because you had a baby.”

“Rebecca had a baby. I took care of a baby,” he said. “And you took care of our collective baby.”

“I can’t just take off,” I said. “Carter would kill me.”
