Hearts in Motion (Boggy Creek Valley 5) - Page 81

My eyes felt heavy, and I decided to close them for a second while I let the evening’s activities slowly fade away.

Warm breath tickled the side of my neck, and I let out a soft moan.

“Sweetheart, wake up.”

“Go away,” I mumbled, turning away from the person who’d woken me up from a dream. A very lovely dream. Luke had been making love to me, and the last thing I wanted to do was wake up.

“Bree, wake up, love.”

It was Luke, whispering into my ear.

“Luke?” I turned and opened my eyes to see him staring down at me, a brilliant smile on his face. “How was poker night?”

“I’ll be surprised if they ask me back.”

Frowning, I slowly pushed myself up into a sitting position. “Why do you say that?” I asked with a yawn.

He chuckled. “I pretty much won every hand.”

My brows shot up. “Really? I didn’t know you liked poker.” A blush moved over his cheeks and I narrowed my eyes. “Did you cheat?”

“No! Of course not. But…I neglected to tell them I was taught how to play by William Lawrence Parker.”

“I don’t know who that is.”

He laughed softly. “He’s one of the best, if not the best, poker player in the world. I played him in a movie a few years ago that was filmed in Vegas where he lives. He used to live at Caesars Palace and played the high stakes poker games. He won millions back when he was in his thirties.”

I brought my hand to my mouth and giggled. “Oh my God, please don’t tell them for at least another few poker nights! That’s hilarious. Was Kyle pissed he kept losing?”

Luke gave me a one-shoulder shrug. “He wasn’t happy.” Standing up, he said, “Let’s get you to bed.”

He headed for his room before I stopped him. “I already told the guests I’ll be in the cabin in the back, and if they need anything they should call the number for the front desk. I forwarded it to my cell already.”

“So what you’re saying is, we’ll have privacy to make up for the last four months?”

I nodded and gave him a wicked smile. “Yes. And we don’t have to be quiet either.”

Before I knew what was happening, Luke swept me up into his arms and headed to the back door. “Do the doors lock automatically?” he asked as he slipped outside and paused.

“Yes,” I replied. “They’re programed to lock at nine. Didn’t you have to use your code to get in?”

He nodded. “I did. But I wanted to make sure they’re all locked.”

As he started down the path, I snuggled into his chest and breathed in his scent. It sent a thrill straight to my core, and I instantly felt a pulse of need between my legs.

“You know, I’m going to need to find a place to live,” he said, “And sooner rather than later, Bree.”

“Why’s that?” I asked, pretending to be confused.

“I’m not fucking you steps away from your parents, where your mother could interrupt us at any moment. Especially after we get married.”

My heart warmed, and my stomach did a little flip. “Married,” I whispered. A part of me screamed that we needed to slow the hell down. We had been broken up for four months. But now that Luke was back and I was in his arms and had tasted his sweet kisses again, there was no way in hell I was letting him go. Ever.

“I’ve been looking at places to buy. I saved up some money and have enough for a down payment, but I haven’t been in a huge rush,” I replied. “I’d like to find a historical home.”

He looked down at me and smiled while he picked up his pace. Once we got to the cottage, Luke set me down and I punched in the code. The moment the door opened, he pushed me inside and we got to work on undressing each other. It was rushed and sloppy, with my hands getting in the way of his and vice versa. But soon we were both standing naked in the middle of my little living room and I couldn’t keep my hands off of him. I trailed my fingers up his chest, over his shoulders, down his arms.

When I brushed a fingertip lightly over his cock, Luke hissed and grabbed my hand. “I want you too badly to play games. Sit down in the chair, Bree.”

My entire body hummed with anticipation. I glanced over my shoulder at the antique chair that sat in the corner of the living room. “That chair?” I asked innocently.

Luke growled and began gently pushing me back until my legs bumped into it, and I sank down. He dropped to his knees, pushed my legs apart, and stared for the longest time before he let out a low moan. “Fuck, I’ve missed you.”
