The Man from Sanctum (Masters & Mercenaries Reloaded 3) - Page 31

“Of course,” Maddie replied.

“Then you might want to call her Amber Rose.”

“Amber Rose? Soldiers and Doms Amber Rose?” Maddie got that spark in her eyes that every romance reader seemed to get when they figured out who Serena was. “Oh, my god.” Her voice went low. “I love her books. What do I say?”

“I think you’ll find she’s easy to get along with. Let’s go and tour the club and then we can start training.” It would be good to have Serena talk to Maddie. Serena wasn’t joking about being a long-time submissive. Perhaps she could convince Maddie there was more to D/s than what she read in some nonfiction book.

“Come with me.” Serena held up the keycard that would let them all in. “We can get some work in before the club opens tonight. According to Ian, we don’t have long to get you up to speed, but I think we can do it. And if I can sneak a few questions about satellites and artificial intelligence in, I would love you forever.”

“I have tons of questions, too.” Maddie seemed much more animated. She followed behind Serena.

“Hey, do we really think she’s seen our mystery woman?” Adam held back, allowing the women to go ahead of them.

“I think she’s seen the same tech Hutch saw.” Deke watched as Maddie walked through the doors, her hips swaying.

He hadn’t been lying to her. He still remembered every inch of her body, still could hear the way she moaned and how she clutched him right before she came.

If she wasn’t sleeping with this guy, she was fair game. She hadn’t gone to that Dan person. She’d come to him when she needed help. She hadn’t even told Dan Whatshisname. He needed to find out what Dan’s last name was so he could run an incredibly invasive check into the man’s life.

“When we take a dinner break, I’ll have her take a look at the sketch we did from what Noelle could recall,” Jake promised.

“You really couldn’t find her from that sketch?” The company Adam and Jake ran were the best in the world at finding missing persons.

“No. We haven’t managed to match the sketch to any kind of a credible lead,” Adam admitted. “It can be hard to work from a sketch. We also have to consider the fact that Noelle didn’t spend much time with her and eyewitness observations can be faulty sometimes.”

“We have nothing else to go on,” Jake agreed. “If we could get a real picture of her, I think we could ID her.”

“So what I need is as good a picture or video as you can get for me,” Adam explained. “You’ll have to catch her when she’s not wearing the tech.”

“So I need to get her to take those glasses off.” He wasn’t sure how he would do it, but he was willing to try.

“You’re going to have to find a way to follow her. She’ll trip up at some point, but finding her and then not losing her is going to be your best bet,” Jake continued. “Figure out where she’s staying and camp out.”

“That’s what Boomer and Kyle are for,” he admitted. “No one on the planet has more patience being in a perch than Boomer.”

Boomer used to be the best sniper in Special Forces. He could take a person out at four thousand yards. Because of the classified nature of his work, he didn’t get credit, but luckily, Boomer didn’t mind getting paid off in food. Give that guy a couple of pizzas and he was happy. Sometimes Deke wished he had that man’s metabolism. As for Kyle, he could be ruthless as hell.

Somehow they would find a way to figure the mystery out.

“As soon as you have something, send it my way.” Adam patted his shoulder, a friendly gesture. “How close you want to get to this woman? Because I have a couple of scenarios in mind.”

So close there was nothing between them. So close she would remember everything he had to give her.

“Just the basics this afternoon.” He wasn’t going to overwhelm her. “Then we’ll stay and watch the scenes this evening and see where that takes us.”

“I heard a rumor that she used to be your girlfriend,” Jake said. “I’m surprised you’re taking it slow. You always seemed like a guy who went after what he wanted. Unless you don’t want her anymore.”

“She’s dating someone. Someone she called her boyfriend, but then she didn’t bother to actually tell him what’s going on in her life. She seems to think he’ll take her brush off and won’t care that she doesn’t see him for a couple of weeks.” He wasn’t sure how much he believed her when she said she wanted to try with this guy. She’d never been a good liar. He believed this man existed, but not that she was invested in him.
