His Next Trick - Page 44

We do everything together.

My eyes shift to the water again. My mind is back on that bend in the river the first night I claimed her.

So much for not getting hard as nails for the second time in the morning.

“Jett.” She scowls.

Wrong answer.

“Can we not talk about how you look right now?” I ask, cocking a brow and failing badly at ignoring my perpetual hard on whenever she’s around.

Especially wearing hardly anything like she is this morning.

“See. You do think I’m fat,” she pouts. Snapping her pencil, she slams her laptop shut and stands to storm off when I rush to block her.

My thick line of heat answers any doubts she might have.

“Is this the cock of a man who isn’t attracted to you?” I ask, kissing her lips gently.

Relieved when she lets her body press right up against mine.

“I’m hideous.” She sulks, resting her head on my pecs as I stroke her hair.

Her hand starts to stroke me through my robe.

“Monstrous,” I add with a smile.

“A proper pig,” she says, but I move my head back enough to give her a cautionary glance.

“Don’t say those things, P,” I beg her.

I’m still as big as ever and next to, beside, and on top of me, Penelope is always gonna be tiny.

“You’re not skin and bone, but I need something to grab a hold of,” I remind her, grinding my cock against her.

Panicked when she gasps in pain, clutching her front.

“Shit, P. What is it? What’d I do?” I snap, but she shakes her head, telling me she’s fine.

“Just some gas,” she fibs.

I glance at her full breakfast plate, remembering all the full dinner plates I’ve seen lately too.

My girl is not eating like she should.

She’s moody, restless. Sleepy and feeling nauseous every—

We both look at each other. The same thought flashing through both our minds.

I can’t believe I never kept a better track of time after our first time…

“We’re going to the hospital,” I announce, but Penelope has a better idea.

A minor distraction.

“After we take a dip?” she purrs, apologizing for being a grump. Her hand working me properly now, freeing my aching cock from my robe as I groan louder.

Her own breathing shivers as she hums with a different tune.

Suddenly not so down. Thankfully not in any pain.

Hopefully carrying the little person I just know we made that night.

LATER THAT NIGHT

“How could you know?” Penelope huffs, confiding in me she feels stupid for not knowing what’s ‘wrong’ with her.

“There’s nothing wrong with you, P. It’s P for perfect like I’ve been telling you for months now.”

Both our hands hold the tiny envelope from the hospital.

She’s three months pregnant, and we… Penelope decided not to know the sex of our baby just yet.

Keep some magic for the big day.

“You always know just what to say to make me feel better,” she murmurs, yawns and leans over to kiss me goodnight.

“No skinny dipping then?” I ask, feeling a little putout but it only makes her snort a laugh.

“Jesus Jett, you’re insatiable. I’ll be knocked up with twins if you keep wanting to stuff me senseless three times a day,” she sighs, my free hand already circling her stiffening nipple through her nightie.

“I know just how to make you feel better,” I tell her, kissing her neck slowly, working my way to her lips, and then back down to her chest.

Eventually going all the way downtown to pay a visit to that magical place.

Down where all the magic in my life really began.

“Save something for the morning,” Penelope shivers, her hands gripping my hair so hard.

Oh, there’ll be plenty left over for the morning.

And every morning, noon and night after that.

EXTENDED EPILOGUE

ONE YEAR LATER

Penelope

The wedding of the century, in my mind at least, was delayed a couple of times.

Okay, a couple dozen times. And again, because of me.

Or rather, because of how many fittings and dress sizes I went through before it occurred to me I was either carrying a ready-made child aged nine, complete with bedroom furniture or perhaps there was more than just one little person growing inside me.

Jett and I held off on knowing for sure, but it did mean we didn’t tie the knot until the very last minute. Literally.

He was so sweet about it the whole thing, never complained once. Even when it was me gnashing my teeth and whining like a brat over petty crap, Jett only held me tighter.

Told me he loved me even more for us sticking through the tough times.

Straight after we said ‘I do’ I went into labor, and our ‘just married’ truck rattled with cans and confetti trailing behind all the way to the hospital where little Benjamin and Stacey came into the world with a splash.

Literally.

The offer for a water birth came up, and considering how our kids were conceived right by the river that first time, and how their dad and I swam like nymphs as they were being made… We said sure. Why not?
