Rocky Start (A Rocky Start) - Page 10

“Fine. Give me a minute,” I huff. I sit up and take a deep breath before getting off my bed. Checking my appearance in the mirror, I see that although I’m exhausted, I don’t look like it.

Finally whipping open the door, I’m hit with a smiling Sean. “Thanks, Georgie.”

“No biggie. Since you’re buying, I figure I’ll be nice.” I give him a big smile in return. His eyes widen and then they darken, and I swear I might actually be in trouble.

He sighs and claps his hands to his thighs, giving a slight nod. “Sounds good to me. It’s been a long day.” We walk toward the living room, and I can see there’s a large recliner added that’s clearly old but still made of finer material than I’m used to. “It’s my favorite chair,” he says, reading my expression.

He takes a seat in his chair, still grinning up at me as if nothing’s wrong. I walk into the kitchen and go into our takeout drawer and pull out a stack of menus, bringing back our favorites for him to look at. “Here, pick what you have a taste for.” He stares straight at me, and the look in his eyes takes my words in a sexual way. “I think you’ve read too much of my sister’s book.”

“So I’m guessing they didn’t tell you I was moving in.”

“They? Darcy knew about this too?” I have to remind myself that my sisters love me and they wouldn’t do this to hurt me. They wanted to bring him back into my life. Still, they could have told me, warned me. I would have at least put on makeup and not look like I got kicked by a mule.

“Yeah. I’m working in Chicago for a bit with a couple of clients, and since I had to fly up here several times in the next couple of months, Lydia offered up the apartment.”

“So you won’t be staying here?” I ask, wondering if he’ll be coming and going for weeks at a time.

“Oh, no, I’m staying. You’re not that lucky. I can work anywhere, and well, I could use a change of scenery.” He does manage to take his eyes off me for a minute to look outside at the old, empty factory across the street.

“Oh.” I roll my eyes. “Yes, we have some amazing views here.” I can’t hide the giggle that escapes my lips, and that’s when I see his mouth drop open.

Clearing his throat, he asks, “So do you have a favorite?” I don’t want to tell him, but maybe this is my chance to get to know him better and at least not be a complete bitch. Not all men are the same, I mentally chant to myself.

“I have lots of favorites, but it’s based on my mood. How about this?” I go with a pizza place. He smiles and nods, checking it out. I watch as his tongue dips out and he licks his lips. My heart pounds in my chest at the simple action. He looks up from the takeout menu, and I’m able to adjust my expression just in time. “So? Any ideas?”

“It all looks good, but I’ll take this.” He makes the traditional tourist choice of deep-dish. He pulls out his wallet and hands me his credit card. Our fingers touch, and my pussy floods my panties instantly. Taking a deep breath, I nod and call in the order while I roll my eyes and order a regular thin crust because it will be freaking delicious either way, but he’ll just have to figure that out on his own. Once I’m done, I slide his card onto the coffee table in front of him because I don’t want to risk our hands meeting again.

“I’m going to shower. I’ve had a long flight and train ride.” Plus, I need to cool the hell down before I give in to the lust he creates throughout my entire body.

“Okay. I’ll be able to hear the doorbell from the room, right?” he asks, standing up from his chair. Damn, I forgot how tall he is. I’m short in comparison, and suddenly the urge to lay my head on his chest comes into my head. “Well?”

Blushing, I answer, “Yeah, you should be able to unless you’re jamming out or something.”

“No, I’ll just be unpacking.” He winks at me and then walks the other way to Darcy’s old room. It was the largest of the three bedrooms with a master bath, and it makes me angry that I didn’t steal it the day we came back from Lakeland the first time. I head into the shower down the hall with everything I need instead of just my bathrobe because now I have my hot new roommate. When it was just my sisters, I didn’t care if I walked around in my towel or bathrobe, which reminds me—I need to scold my sisters.
