Burning with Lust (The Vegas Men 1) - Page 12

“So you do want him.”

“I didn’t say that. I just meant even if I did, I wouldn’t—”

“It’s okay, Jodi. You should have figured out by now that I’m all good. You can tell me anything.”

“I know.” I sigh loudly and slide my eyes closed. “I don’t know what I want right now.”

“No.” She brushes a bright pink lipstick across her lips, a color totally different from my red. “None of us do.”

I look at us both in the mirror, flicking my eyes between us. Both of us lost in a world of our own problems. I would have to ask her out for a night of fun sometime to learn more about her.

“You know, your cell phone has been going like crazy. Can’t you hear that?”

“Oh, right.” I pull it out and stare at the screen. “Urgh, no.”

“Important?”

“No, nothing like that. No one I want to talk to today.”

She pats me on the butt playfully and smirks at me. “Well, you better shut it off because I have a feeling whoever it is will be persistent, and you probably want to focus all your attention on your sexy boss.”

“Will you stop it?” A red-hot blush all but consumes me. “It isn’t going to happen.”

“Oh, okay then. I’ll believe you, even if no one else will.”

She winks and walks out, leaving me even more confused than before. Now I have no idea where my head is. The only thing I’m certain of is him. He’s in the forefront of my mind, affecting everything, turning me on, twisting my head almost off my shoulders, making me feel things I haven’t experienced in a very long time.

“What the hell am I going to do now?” I ask myself with a smile and a head shake. “This is mental.”

This isn’t even a battle between my head and my heart—because they both want the same thing!

I wait with bated breath until Jodi comes back, almost sitting on the edge of my seat as I do. I don’t know what happened to her then. She raced off in a massive rush, almost as if she was suffering a panic attack, and I don’t know how to make it better. I don’t want this fun game to become something else.

“I shouldn’t have told her about my ex-wife,” I say with a disappointed head shake. “That was a mistake.”

I raise from my seat, needing to go and see her. I don’t know what I’ll say to make it alright, but there have to be some words somewhere. I need to have something wise ready to make it okay. I stagger forward, my mind racing as I search for the right words, rationality completely shredding from my brain.

“Hello?” I knock hard on the bathroom door before I go inside. “Is anyone in there?”

I press my ear against the door, listening for an answer, but nothing comes. I don’t know if she’s even in there, never mind anyone else, which is troubling. Maybe she’s gone home because I spoke too much.

“I’m coming in, is that okay? Please, someone tell me if you don’t want me to come inside.”

Still nothing. My heart thunders against my ribs as I step into the forbidden zone, wondering what happened to me. I wouldn’t ever do this for anyone else. Again, I’m struck by that special factor Jodi has.

“Jodi? Are you in here?” I call out anxiously. “Are you okay? I didn’t upset you, did I?” I hear nothing but a small panting sound from one of the stalls. “Are you sick? Sorry, I’ll get you home if . . .”

The words fall apart as I finally find her. I thought she was being sick or maybe still panicking, but the sight before me is mind-blowing. Jodi is pressed against the wall of the bathroom stall, one hand all caught up in her hair, and the other in her panties as she sends herself to heaven. Her lips are half-parted and her eyes closed, and she’s completely consumed by whatever she’s thinking about. My mouth runs dry, and I harden all over again. Never have I seen such a sexy sight. It’s so private, and I know I shouldn’t be here, but the taboo nature of this is too much.

“Oh, God,” she groans, her head lolling to one side. “Oh, Brock, that feels so good.”

My heart balls up in my throat, and my eyes are filled with stars. She’s fantasizing about me just like I do her. My fingers curl up by my sides. I don’t know how much longer I can keep myself in check.

“Oh shit.” Her eyes snap open, and she finally spots me. I tense up, expecting the gorgeous moment to come to an abrupt end with our relationship changing irrevocably for the worst, but it doesn’t. Instead, she stares right at me, her eyes consumed by lust, and her hand remains firmly in her underwear. She puts on a show for me.
