Cruel War (The Gilded Sovereign 1) - Page 64

“I’m yours.”

“I can’t hear you,” he taunts as his thumb circles my clit. The motion has fireworks bursting inside me, my vision blurry from an impending orgasm.

“I’m yours, Ares.”

“Again,” he commands, his fingers fucking me violently, my core dripping with need, with arousal coating his fingers as he toys with me like a rag doll, and my toes curl when he drops down behind me and laps at my body like a starving man.

“I’m yours.” My words are whimpered, mewled like a cat in heat because that’s what I feel like when Ares’ tongue slashes across my body again and again.

“Come on my tongue,” he grunts, and my body spasms wildly when he crooks his fingers against the soft part inside me, which has fire bursting through me like an erupting volcano. “That’s a good girl,” Ares coos. His words wash over me, my mind is lost in the need for release. My body trembling, and at his mercy, just where he likes me. My pussy tightens, pulsing, feeling him stretch me open as he claims me. I’ve never felt pleasure like this, never had every nerve in my body alive with electric need.

I’m lost in euphoria, in the swirl of desire that’s catapulted me from this bedroom into a black hole where all I can do is relent and submit to the man who’s played me from day one.

As we descend the stairs, I notice Tarian and Etienne, and between the boys is my best friend. She’s dressed in a luxurious silk gown that hugs her curves like a second skin. The bright pink color pops amongst the dark suits in the room, and the moment her gaze lands on me, her eyes light up with excitement.

We rush toward each other, pulling each other in for a hug, and I breathe easy knowing she’s okay. I’m still a little wobbly from my orgasm, but Ares’ arm snakes around my waist, and he pulls me closer to him.

“Is he here yet?” Ares asks this of Etienne who shakes his head.

The older man who I met briefly, an old friend of Abner, stalks up to us. “You ready for this, Ares?” He questions, his gaze darting between me and the man who’s just made my body tingle, in every way possible.

“I told you, he has to agree to this, or I walk.” The tension that surrounds us is palpable until a beautiful, tall blonde woman walks up to us, slipping her arm around Tarian’s shoulders.

“What’s with all the serious faces? It’s a party,” she guffaws loudly as she pulls the younger man into her chest, which seems to be heaving out of her champagne colored designer dress.

“Mom,” Etienne hisses under his breath as he pulls away from her. “Can you please have something to eat, you need to soak up the alcohol,” he informs her.

“Oh, my son, ever the levelheaded one.” She chuckles, running a nail over Tarian’s shoulder. The bright red of her manicure and the dark material of his jacket is a stark contrast. It’s also a reminder that I don’t belong in this world. I’m an outsider to the wealth, to the secret society, and to the people who are born into it.

“Excuse us.” Ares laces his fingers with mine and practically drags me from the crowd. We make our way through the living room and out onto a patio, which overlooks a dimly lit garden. The land spreads far and wide, dipping into darkness the further away you get from the house.

“Where are we going?”

We come to a stop on the grass. My heels slowly sink into the soft ground, but when Ares spins me around, I take in the monstrosity before us. Three floors of opulent beauty greet me. The windows light up, offering a view of the chandeliers inside. It’s breathtaking. I’ve never seen something as stunning with two turrets, black metal balconies, and the smooth walls of stone. Not even the Lancaster mansion is built to such perfection.

“You drugged me, brought me to a palace, and you’re about to serve me up on a platter to your dad?” I question, not looking at Ares. I don’t want to see the truth in his eyes, not because I’m scared of coming face to face with Abner, but because I’m afraid of losing Ares.

“Dahlia.” Ares turns to me, his gaze locking on mine. “There’s something you need to know. Something I haven’t told you yet.” Every single word he utters makes my body turn rigid. I’m not sure what I’m expecting him to say, but when he opens his mouth again, he tells me something I that tips my world on its axis. “Your father’s alive.”

Ares

“What?” Her eyes are wide with shock. “What do you mean?”

I didn’t want to do this now. But there’s not going to be time when my father arrives. And he’ll probably just tell her the truth to hurt her. To see her in agony.
