Chapter 9
It had been a long night. Maxwell received the phone call after midnight from Wyatt saying that they caught a few more of the hikers. Four more were unaccounted for, so the search was still ongoing. It didn’t sit right with Maxwell at all as he sat in the small kitchen in Lucia’s apartment.
“What’s the word, brother?” Lucifer asked as he joined him.
“Word is, only half the other hikers were captured. Four more are out there somewhere.”
“Shit,” Lucifer stated aloud and ran his fingers through his hair. They were both quiet as Lucifer sat down.
“What’s the plan?”
Maxwell looked at Lucifer with one of his eyebrows raised. Lucifer leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees as he massaged the tense muscles in his neck.
“What do you mean, Lucifer?”
“I mean with Lucia. She can’t stay here. Not alone. I want her with one of us at all times.”
“For the most part she is, during the work day. I think things will fall into place now that we’ve made love to her together. We saw this as the most difficult step because of the man that hurt her.”
“That’s another thing. She could still be in danger. Who’s to say these fucking hikers weren’t sent out here for her?”
“Now you’re letting your concern make up crazy shit. There’s no connection.”
“You don’t know that, Maxwell.”
“I can assure you it’s not connected. Those hikers have been causing shit for miles and through numerous state lines. They’ve done so much fucked-up shit that some of my investigations through the department have connections to these assholes. The Texas Rangers believe there may be a gang of them. We’re still investigating.”
“Shit. I’m sorry. I know you’ve been working a lot and getting quality time alone with Lucia has been tough.”
“That’s not a big deal. As long as she was with one of you guys I was fine. But tonight, tonight was a big deal. For all of us.”
“I know. I can’t believe how amazing it was. And totally fucking not weird at all,” Lucifer said, and Maxwell laughed.
“Don’t get all crazy now. I don’t expect to see your bare ass around me unless it’s while we’re making love to Lucia.”
“Asshole.”
“Loser.”
They both laughed.
“What’s going on in here?” Gabriele asked as he walked into the room yawning.
“Wyatt called,” Lucifer said, and Gabriele looked concerned. Maxwell explained the situation.
“Shit. We’re going to have to move her in with us.”
“We can’t force that on her. As much as I agree and would feel a hell of a lot better if she did, it isn’t going to happen right away. Making love to her was a huge step. She was in a fragile state and we still have a lot to prove to her about our commitment to her and our desire for her to be ours in every aspect. Now, I’m going to head home. I’ll take care of Brutas, you guys decide on the day’s schedule. I figure, Lucifer, you and Salvatore will be with Lucia at Mrs. Higgins’s place all day. Gabriele can meet you guys here and then take over until you shower and change. By that point, I’ll be home and we can all have dinner together. We’ll work this out. She’ll never be alone.”
“That’s what makes this kind of relationship so perfect. She’ll always have one of us watching over her, protecting her,” Lucifer said, and they all agreed.
“It will be perfect. We’ll work really hard at it together. We’ll have the completed family we’ve all always wanted. Now remember to keep in touch with me. I’ll let you know if they find the other four hikers.”
“The police better find them, because if one of us does, it won’t be pretty,” Gabriele said, and they all agreed.

Lucia felt the warmth surrounding her. Initially she jerked a moment, her shoulder aching as she moaned, and then all her senses kicked in. The men’s cologne, soap, sex, hard muscles, strong arms, and a thick penis against her hip. It all came back to her. The hikers in the woods. Gabriele and the Anders men coming to her rescue. Making love to Gabriele, Lucifer, Maxwell, and Salvatore. The large warm hand caressed her back and her ass. She tried to adjust her body, and suddenly she ached everywhere.
