She is Mine - Page 38

I blink back my tears and look up. Stopping me from falling is the one musician I’ve always been certain is an angel. The one musician who I know wouldn’t disrespect me like all the others. The one musician that I’ve been in love with for as long as I can remember…

Clay Cooper.

I can’t stop staring at him. He’s not wearing anything fancy, just a tight black t-shirt and jeans, but he still looks like a rockstar. Probably because he is one. He’s the biggest artist in America and has been since his career started twenty years ago. He’s stood the test of time, and he’s barely aged a day. It’s no wonder that women of all ages go crazy for him.

I look into his eyes. They’re bright green and piercing, one of his most defining features. Everyone on Earth knows those eyes, and I’m looking right into them. I can smell his earthy cologne as he holds me, staring right back at me like he’s captivated. The moment has lasted so much longer than I expected. What’s so interesting about me that I’ve held his attention for so long?

Clay

I’m minding my own business when I bumped into the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life. Now, here she is, cradled in my arms, and I haven’t been able to stop staring at her the entire time.

I don’t recognize her, it looks like she might just work here, and yet, I feel like I’ve known her all my life. She has the most timeless sort of beauty, with pale skin and blue eyes that stand out against her beautiful ginger hair. I hold her in my arms and know that I’m looking at someone special. It seems like no one has realized her true potential yet, or she wouldn’t be working here, but I can see it just by looking in her eyes. My cock surges in my pants. She’s the first woman who has ever made me feel something. She’s so damn gorgeous that I know I never want to be apart from her again.

I want to make her mine.

“Clay…” she whispers.

“You know who I am?” I say. A nervous smile plays on her lips.

“Everyone knows who you are.”

It’s true. I’m not exactly a person who has spent their life under the radar. I’ve been on sellout tours worldwide, and I’ve been topping the charts ever since I began my music career when I was only twenty-one, probably the age she is right now. But there’s always been something missing from my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved the life of luxury, of fame, of fortune...but I’ve never fallen in love. I’ve never started the family I so desperately want. And now, as I hold this shapely woman in my arms, I have this overwhelming urge to rip off her clothes and have her, to put a baby in her belly, to make her mine forever. She’s the only woman who has ever made me feel anything at all. Is this a sign?

“What’s your name?” I ask, pulling her back into a standing position and reluctantly letting go of my grip on her waist. She blushes.

“I...I’m Harper. I’m sorry, I’m meant to be cleaning your dressing room for you. I assume you’re here to perform?”

“That’s right.”

“But...but the people who were here last night...they made such a mess and it’s too much for me to do on my own,” she says, her eyes shining with unshed tears. I put a hand over her cheek, ready to catch any tears that might fall.

“Those assholes,” I growl. “They have no fucking respect. Don’t you worry about a thing, Harper. I wouldn’t allow you to clean up after them no matter what. This isn’t a place for a woman like you.”

“A...a woman like me?”

“A woman as beautiful as you shouldn’t be working on your hands and knees, cleaning up after ungrateful idiots,” I snarl, feeling possessive anger rising inside me. I have no idea where it came from, but the feeling is overwhelming. It’s taken over my entire body. What is she doing to me?

“I have to do it, it’s my job,” she sniffs, looking upset. I shake my head.

“Leave it to me. I’ll send in some of my team to handle it.”

“I can’t let you do that.”

“Trust me, it’s fine. I pay them way too much to do too little work. They can handle it for one day. You and me, we’re going to get out of here and do something else. I’m not letting those assholes ruin your day.”

She blinks in shock, looking up at me with her big blue doe eyes. “You...you want to spend time with me?”

“Well, who wouldn’t want to spend time with you?” I say, stroking my hand down her cheek. I can’t resist the urge to keep touching her. She’s the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen in my life. How can I resist her when she’s right in front of me, leaning into my touch, hanging on to my every word?
