“What’s your name?” I growl. She swallows. The confidence she exuded when I first saw her seems to have disappeared.
“I’m Brianna. My friends call me Bree…”
“I’m the CEO of the company, Vincent,” I growl in response. She nods.
“I’m honored to meet you, sir...but I have to ask...why me?”
I stare at her. “Well, why not you? You’re clearly qualified if you made it through the screening process.”
“Yes...but you don’t know me yet. You didn’t even interview the other candidates. What...what made you pick me out of the crowd?”

“Well, I’m glad you picked me,” she says with a smile, some of her confidence returning. “I was going to walk away today. I thought maybe I was too young for the position. There are others probably more qualified than me. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying that when you’ve been so kind as to choose me, but it’s true. There’s a lot I don’t know yet.”
“Don’t worry. I’m going to be here to guide you,” I growl. I reach out and touch her cheek, watching her gasp under my fingertips. Her soft skin only makes me desire her more. I take a step back to restrain myself. I want some time to get to know her first before I dive in at the deep end. I don’t want her to get spooked, after all. I’m a man at least twice her age. “I’m going to show you the ropes of the company and take you under my wing,” I say, looking deep into her eyes. “You don’t need to worry. Your job here is secure with me. I’m going to help you reach the top.”
“I can’t believe it,” she breathes. “I’ve always dreamed of an opportunity like this. How can I ever thank you for your kindness?”
“There’s one thing you can do for me.”
“Anything,” she insists. Her gaze softens. “Anything you want, I’ll do it.”

I could barely stop shaking as I was shown around the company building. I could barely believe that Vincent had shown up and rocked my entire world. One look at him and my life changed forever. Now, I’m his newest employee, but somehow, I feel like I’m something so much more.
I’m back at my hotel room, getting ready for tonight’s dinner. I wasn’t prepared for this at all. I didn’t expect to be hired on the spot, and I certainly didn’t expect the CEO to take me out for dinner. But this feels like so much more than a boss taking out his new employee for dinner. It feels like a date.
I can’t ignore the way he looked at me. His eyes were so hungry as he looked me up and down. I could tell that he was thinking the same things I was.
