Not My Romance - Page 48

I smile, running a hand through my hair. “I don’t know about that.”

“You do,” Kyra says seriously.

There’s passion in her words… the same passion that burns between us in the bedroom. Or maybe it’s the passion that has led her to become a respected filmmaker and scriptwriter. It was slow in the beginning, but she worked her way up, graduating film school and then making a series of low-budget movies. Recently, a major Hollywood studio has shown interest in having her film a franchise.

She’s setting the earth on fire, and all while bringing our beautiful children into this world.

“Dad, what if mommy said no?” Sebastian asks.

I chuckle. “Then I would’ve been very embarrassed.”

“Mommy wouldn’t say no. She said she was dreaming of daddy proposing to her.” Katy sits up, smiling at her mother and then at me. “She said she couldn’t believe it and she was so happy she just cried.”

“When did she say that?” I ask.

“When we were at the store earlier.”

I smile over at my wife. She always gets emotional after giving birth, after bringing yet another life into this world. It’s the same way I get the first time I hold one of our children. I’ve cried every single time, sometimes a silent tear sliding down my cheek, sometimes sobs of pure joy.

“I was never going to say no,” Kyra says.

“But I was worried,” I admit.

“Why, Daddy?” Liam asks.

“This was the biggest moment of my life. It was going to make the difference between this… between having you, all of you, and the life I’m so lucky for. And being alone.”

“Look, look, Daddy’s getting down on one knee.”

Kyra’s eyes meet mine again, our decade of history sparking between us, as on-screen I open the ring box and ask her to marry me.

This didn’t start off as our romance but it sure is now and it always will be.
