Monkey Wrench (Cheap Thrills 8) - Page 35

“I’ve wanted this for so long.” His voice was deeper and raspier than I’d ever heard it, making the need I’d thought was unbearable become worse. “Before anything happens, I need you to know something.”

When he didn’t continue, I dragged my hand slowly from his upper back to his ass cheek, using my new purchase to press our lower halves together more firmly. “What’s that?”

“This is different,” he said solemnly. “It means everything, and if we turn this corner, you and Shanti are mine. Do you get that?”

Did he really expect me to fight him on that?

“I’m not entirely sure I see a problem with that,” I admitted. “That’s not to say I agree we should be referred to as possessions—”

“In a way, that’s kind of what you are, except not in the way some assholes refer to women as possessions. I mean it in a non-asshole way. But in return, I’m your possession, too, because I belong to both of you unequivocally.”

Okay, I loved the sound of that. I understood he wasn’t referring to us as possessions in a bad way. Family belonged to people, so in a sense, they were possessions, too, and that’s what Carter meant.

“Then, sold.” I held my hand out for him to shake, not realizing how much of a dick I looked until he shook it slowly, his lips twitching.

“Does this mean I can finally kiss you properly?”

I wasn’t the most experienced person in the world, but I was pretty sure we’d kissed properly before now. “What do you mean?”

“I’ll just show you.”

He’d only just gotten the words out before his mouth was back on mine, kissing me until it felt like the room was spinning. Then again, we could have an earthquake that registered as a ten on the Richter scale, and I probably wouldn’t have noticed it. So, although it felt like the room was spinning, it didn’t deter me from what was going on at that moment.

But suffice it to say, Carter had been right when he’d used the phrase ‘kiss properly.’ No kiss that I’d had before this moment even came close to this one.

As his tongue licked into my mouth, I remembered his reaction when I’d sucked on it previously and did it again. Because our lips were pressed against each other, I couldn’t exactly smile on the outside, but on the inside, I was grinning like crazy when he groaned and dropped a little more of his weight on me.

“Baby,” he breathed, his lips brushing over mine with the word. “You’re killing me.”

I could feel exactly what I was doing to him because his hard length was pressed right against my pussy, which made me wonder if he could feel how wet I was now. Given that I only had thin lace panties on, and he only had the light cotton of his jockey shorts, he may have been able to. But ‘may’ wasn’t good enough for me.

With confidence I wouldn’t have ever known I had if it hadn’t been for him, I trailed my fingers down his bicep, following the soft skin down his forearm, until I got to his hand and wrapped my fingers around it.

That wasn’t what I needed the confidence for, though. Nudging Carter’s arm so that he shifted his weight onto the other one while I moved his hand down my body to between my legs was what I’d needed it for. It was a lady-ballsy move that I would never have done if I wasn’t desperate for what we were doing to progress to the point he was inside me.

“Fuck,” he hissed as his fingers skimmed over the damp fabric. “Naomi, I need you to be sure.” Then, clenching his eyes tightly shut, he whispered, “Please be sure.”

“I’m sure.” I said the words with all of the conviction in the world because I was. In fact, I’d never been so sure of anything in my life.

Opening them again, he kept his green gaze on mine as he gently shook off my hand and began exploring with his fingers. They trailed down the elastic edging that ran along the side of where I desperately wanted his fingers to be, torturing me, and he knew it.

Just when I was sure he’d pull on the elastic to slide them under it, he breezed his fingertips over the gusset and repeated the move on the other side.

“You’re mean.” I didn’t whine it, and I didn’t pout. I didn’t even say it heatedly because it felt like I had no oxygen in my lungs with how tightly wound up I was. It came out of me so quietly that it was a wonder he heard it.

“I’m not mean, baby. I just refuse to hurry something I’ve wanted for so long. This isn’t the only time this will happen, but it’s our first time, and I’m not going to make it happen so quickly that I don’t get to learn more about you. Things only I’ll know. I also want to be able to act out some of my fantasies and find the answers to some questions I’ve had about you.”
