Sonata (Butcher and Violinist 2) - Page 40

Eden walked over to me, appearing as if she’d had as much to drink as the woman. “Where did you go?”

“A block away.”

“Why?” She was definitely drunk. She usually didn’t ask with such strength, as if she wouldn’t let it go until she got answers.

“Giorgio told me that Kazimir was in a bathhouse down the street, so I went.”

She looked scared. “What?”

“I knew I would be okay.”

“But what if you weren’t? And I didn’t know.”

“Sometimes you won’t know.”

She gripped both of my shoulders. “Then, let’s change that.”

I grinned and gathered her into my arms. “I want to protect you from—”

She moved away from my hold. “I want to know everything. I’m tired of sitting around being stupid, and oblivious to everything happening around me.”

“You’re not—”

“What did the Lion say?” She wore an angry look.

“That he was just in Paris on vacation.”

“Do you believe him?”

“Mostly.”

“What will you do now?”

“Pay attention to everything, until I get the answers I want.”

She grabbed me hard and stared at me with a drunken intensity. “And I’ll be right at your side, protecting you. We’re like Bonnie and Clyde.”

I smiled.

“I just need to learn how to shoot a gun.”

“You don’t need to know.”

“But I should.” She nodded her head. “I want to be stronger.”

“You are strong. And even if you were not, I only want you to be you.” I kissed her because she touched my heart more than any other woman had. My ex-wife expected complete protection and attention. Even if only a bee stung her, then she’d expect revenge on the whole colony’s beehive.

Eden didn’t concern herself with my play for power. She only wanted to protect me, so much so, that she would put her violin away and pick up a gun. The image of her gripping one turned me on, but not as much as when she held me or the violin.

“No, Eden, you’ll never need to learn how to shoot. Not when all my men will shoot for you.”

“But—”

I kissed her, knowing my mouth could end the conversation.

God, I’m falling for you, Eden.

We left the shop and closed up. Eden rested in my arms the whole ride back, nuzzling against my chest even though I’d been so sweaty.

She yawned and closed her eyes. “You smell so good.”

I inhaled her, holding her closer to me than ever before. “You too, reine, you too.”

When we returned to the penthouse, I undressed us both and we inhaled each other’s skin, guessing scents. Soon I was breathing every inch of her flesh.

She is the smell of love. And I don’t want to breath, if I’m not inhaling her.

Chapter 9

Intoxicating

Eden

Jean-Pierre woke up early but left a note.

Eden,

Every day has been amazing. Tonight we go out and see Paris after dark. Be ready at 8pm. I’ll send a gown.

Jean-Pierre

He delivered an elaborate gown later. It was breathtaking. The satin itself was a sparkling white. At the center was a red whale-boned corset. The full skirt would fasten around my waist. A four-foot train followed.

Jesus. Where are we going? To a ball?

Knowing that I had time, I decided to do a surprise of my own. I rushed off with a few of his men and bought the sexiest lingerie to complement the gown

And the outfit I found was an unrelenting sexiness. All sultry sophistication. The top was a beautiful corset, crafted with exquisite lace. The soft underwired cups propped my breasts up, making them appear much bigger than they were. There was also scalloped trimming and a matching G-string. All of that I paired with lace top stockings.

I couldn’t wait to put everything on. Hours later, I did and met Jean-Pierre at the entrance of his building.

He stood by the limo with the door open and a welcoming expression on his face.

There’s nothing new today. He looks less stressed.

He wore a black designer suit. Impeccably tailored as usual and hot as fuck. I still couldn’t get used to his gorgeousness.

I strolled over to him.

He inhaled me. “You’re wore the perfume, or is that the sweet scent of your pussy?”

“Maybe both. As soon as I saw you, I went soaking wet, but I also wore your perfume.” I kissed him, sucking on his lip and relishing in the fact that this man was mine.

I’d finally accepted it. I wouldn’t be going anywhere. Even with all the danger and death, I would stay by his side.

“You’re intoxicating. This evening you glow more than ever before. This evening you are perfection. Luscious hips and breasts.” He licked his lips and gazed at my cleavage. “The latter of which is close to coming out of that gown. Please, let me know if you’ll need any help with that this evening.”

“I’ll be sure to ask.” I slipped by him to go inside the limo.

He stopped me and whispered in my ear, “Tonight, I’m going to have you on your knees, wearing nothing but this corset and heels.”
