The Bad Boy (Black Mountain) - Page 45

She didn’t say anything as she placed her other hand atop his, not speaking, just touching him and staring into his eyes. A long moment passed before she finally said, “The food was great, but the company was better.” Her cheeks were pinker and all he wanted to do was lean in those last few inches and kiss her.

God he wanted to kiss her hard and long. And he wanted every fucking patron here to see them so they’d know she was his.

“I’m really glad to be here, especially with you, Alex.”

The way she said his name had his cock jerking uncomfortably. With the thick length digging into his zipper, there was no doubt a wet spot was right in the center for how much pre-cum the fucking tip was leaking.

“The way you watch me,” she whispered.

“And what way is that?” Fuck, his voice was deep, deeper than usual.

“Like you’ve never…” she cleared her throat and looked away, her face becoming redder.

“I like that I make you blush, Mary.” His voice was low, only for her ears. “Tell me. Say the words.” He knew what she was going to say because he was staring hardcore and not even trying to hide it.

She glanced up and licked her pretty pink lips. “You look at me like you want…”

God yes. She was going to say it.

“Like you want to fuck me.” The last two words were so low he almost didn’t hear them.

He moved in another inch, so damn close now that he felt her warm breath along his lips, smelled the sweet red wine she was drinking on her breath. “Because I do, Mary. I do want to fuck you. Right here, right now. I don’t even care if anyone saw. In fact.” He lifted his free hand and smoothed his thumb along her plump bottom lip. “I’d want everyone to see so they know you’re mine.”

Her breathing became harsher, faster, a reaction because he knew she was aroused. He knew she was wet. For him. But as much as he wanted her, that wasn’t what tonight was supposed to be about.

“Tell me something about yourself that no one else knows.” He pulled back even though that was the last thing he wanted.

“There really isn’t anything to tell.” Her voice was still fast and hard, her pupils dilated.

“I have a younger sister. She’s your age,” he said, starting off so she didn’t feel so put on the spot. “She started dating this guy that I hated, who I thought was an asshole.” He shrugged and ran a hand over the back of his neck. “I was a prick to him, kicked his ass. I didn’t give him a chance when I should have. And it was too late because he was bloody and bruised, and I was too thickheaded to see reason or listen to my sister.” He let those words hang between them, but she didn’t move her hand away from his. “Then I finally got my head out of my ass and saw how much Reese loved my sister.” He brought his beer to his mouth and took a long pull. “The crazy thing is,” he finally said after he set the bottle back down. “Is Reese and I are pretty similar. Bad reputations all around.”

“If it means anything,” she said softly. “I think you’re a pretty great guy, Alex, bad boy reputation and all.”

Well fuck, now he was pretty sure he was blushing.

“I hate the color red.”

He couldn’t hold back the chuckle that left him when she spoke. “Tell me more.”

“You really want to know the boring stuff?”

He shook his head. “Nothing about you is boring. Believe me.”

She gave him the prettiest fucking smile. “Well,” she cleared her throat, her blush still in place. “I won’t eat seafood unless it’s in the form of a tuna fish sandwich. I also eat all of the toppings off my pizza first, and can’t sleep unless I’m wearing socks, even in the middle of summer.”

This was what he wanted to know, the little things that made her up, the little things that no one else knew unless they were really paying attention to Mary Trellis, unless she decided to let them in.

God, it made him feel fucking incredible.

She took a deep breath. “I feel out of my element, if I’m being honest.”

That took him off guard and he straightened. “What? I make you nervous?” He ran a hand over his face and exhaled. “You make me nervous, Mary.” Alex wasn’t the type of person to lay his cards out and admit when he was unstable in a situation. He always played it up, made it seem like he had his shit together, that he was strong. But he felt a sort of vulnerability with Mary, one that didn’t scare the shit out of him… One he was more than happy to admit to her.
