Psychos (Depraved Sinners 1) - Page 106

“WHAT?” I screech in horror as Marcus just grins, not bothering to set his brother straight. “That is not what we’re discussing.”

“Right,” Levi chuckles, turning his back and continuing down the narrow alleyway. “Don’t come crying to me when that blade accidentally tears right through your ass.”

I groan, the frustration quickly getting to me. “I AM NOT SHOVING A FUCKING KNIFE UP MY ASS,” I shriek just as two bouncers step out from the side of the alleyway, their sharp gazes falling on me with raised brows.

“Fucking hell,” I mutter to myself, embarrassment flooding through me.

The bouncers turn their gazes to the DeAngelis brothers, and suddenly those brows aren’t so high. Jaws clench as Marcus leaves my side to stand as one with his brothers, and quiet words pass between them. When the bouncers glance at each other with pale faces, their hands fall to the weapons at their hips. Roman shakes his head. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

The bouncer on the left swallows hard, his gaze flicking back to Roman’s as a cold chill sweeps through my body. Those were the very first words Roman said to me after being taken by them. I try to put it to the back of my mind, reminding myself that things have changed for the better since then.

“We don’t want any trouble,” the bouncer says, cautiously glancing my way and wondering why the fuck a girl like me would be out with guys like this.

“Neither do we,” Roman tells him. “So, I suggest that you step aside before we’re forced to eliminate the trouble.”

The other guy shakes his head, his eyes wide in horror, knowing exactly who it is that he’s dealing with. “Please, man. I have a wife and kids at home.”

Levi raises his chin, the look on his face like nothing I’ve ever seen before. “Then walk away,” he says. “Otherwise that wife of yours will be calling me daddy.”

The guy goes white and without another word, his gaze falls to the ground and he starts walking back up the alleyway as though not a damn thing just happened, leaving all three of the brothers’ gazes to fall upon the other bouncer. “What’s it going to be?” Marcus questions, knowing just how intimidating the three of them can be when they stand as one.

“Like I said,” the guy repeats. “I don’t want any trouble.”

“Then that’s up to you, isn’t it?”

The guy cautiously glances back toward the internal door of the club, knowing that if he were to let us pass, he would likely lose his job, but if he didn’t he’d likely lose his life. Knowing what’s best, he steps aside, dropping his chin as though he failed himself, but I don’t see it that way. Tonight he saved himself.

“Smart move,” Roman murmurs before looking across at his brothers and nodding. “Let’s make this quick. It won’t be long until someone recognizes us and calls for backup.”

The brothers nod and Roman steps through the back entrance of the club as Levi follows after. Marcus waits for me to move in between them so that I don’t fall behind just as the heavy back door slams shut behind us.

We trail through the club and I follow the boys closely, not liking what I’m seeing. This club is different from what I’m used to, and I quickly start to see familiar faces of the men that I usually have to turn away. These are the kind of men who pose threats to others, the kind of men who you don’t want creeping up on you in a club, men who you need to watch your drink around. Hell, there are faces here that I recognize from the boys’ party at the castle only a few short nights ago, which speaks volumes.

This isn’t the kind of place I want to be, and seeing the way people around us are nodding to the brothers in recognition or respect has shivers trailing down my spine. Maybe Marcus was onto something about hiding a knife up my ass. I could use its comfort right about now.

The brothers walk through the club as though they’ve been here a million times, and as they approach a crowded table, it quickly becomes their own. People scatter away at the mere sight of the brothers and they move in toward the empty table, ushering me in first to keep me seated behind them.

The music is deafening and from the sound of it, the DJ has no idea what he’s doing. I’d prefer Levi’s incessant drumming a million times over this shit. Waitresses scurry to our table and offer the guys anything they want—drinks, pills, joints, girls. Anything they want, it’ll be catered for, simply in the hopes that they don’t tear this place to pieces and turn it into a slaughterhouse. Though from the sound of it, I don’t think we’re going to be here for long.
